We’re likely having a family friend play the flute for our ceremony music. She is wonderfully talented and is currently studying at a prestigious music school. I know she will have some good ideas for ceremony music, but I also want to be able to provide her with some suggestions, especially for the processional / recessional / etc. I’m having a hard time finding solo flute music that would be good for a wedding ceremony in my online searches. Has anyone else had a flute for their ceremony music? Any suggestions for good flute wedding songs?

I play the flute! If she’s having a piano or organ accompany her- she can play any piece out there, the piano will fill out her sound. It doesn’t need to be “flute” sheet music. Even if she’s playing alone, she only needs to play the melody 🙂

I played the flute unaccompanied in a few weddings back when I was in high school/early college, and I used to have a book of wedding music for flute and guitar that I just played the flute parts out of…it has a lot of the traditional wedding pieces (and some less traditional classical pieces as well), and if I remember right it’s divided up into sections like prelude/processional/recessional/etc.: http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/title/Wedding-Music-for-Flute-Guitar/1751461
Considering that she’s studying music, I’m sure she’ll have some great ideas and might even have access to sheet music that doesn’t pop necessarily up in an online search. Good luck!

Oh I think the flute will sound really lovely – don’t know if its your taste, but some traditional irish pieces on the flute sound really nice.
