I voted wear the one she got you to Rehearsal Dinner and your favorite one to the wedding. I’m a big fan of compromise (or pseudo-compromise, I suppose). 🙂 haha. I’m not sure if it will be ‘enough,’ but is she the type to make a stink if you DON’T wear it for the wedding?

Could you compromise and wear it for the wedding ceremony and then change to the one you love for the reception?

can you wear both on one arm or are they not complimentary styles? Not everyone is into layering their jewelry like I am but who knows..

I would thank her, and then wear what you want on your wedding day without saying a word. She probably won’t notice, and if she does, she’ll forget about it once she’s tearily watching her son tie the knot. If you make a big show about wearing it to the rehersal dinner it will just draw attention to the fact that you didn’t want to wear it on your wedding day.

@breadandbutterflies:  She may notice but she may not care. I know a few brides who chose more demure, classic jewelry for their ceremonies and then decided to “bling it up” for the more relaxed, fun-loving, celebratory reception by either wearing a rhinestone encrusted sash or adding large chandelier earrings / statement bracelets, etc…

@Pand0ra:  i think this is a way better compromise than wearing the one she gave you only at the rehearsal dinner

besides, the ceremony is more important anyway. i think shed be happy with that
