I’m sure this is annoying but at least they offer to pay for the extra costs. I asked my in laws if there was anyone they wanted to invite. BIG mistake. They tried giving me a list of about 100 people on it. Thank God the wedding is out of state so I’m sure these guests will decline.

@Future Army Wife:  I’m in the same boat, but I have a little more time than you. I’ve cut family to keep costs down, but she thinks she can tack on as many friends as she likes as long as she pays.

What about the additional costs of rentals, flowers, favors, etc?

They must not have really been that close of friends if they just remembered them.

My Future Mother-In-Law invited a bunch of people we didn’t know. I was pissed at first, but to lessen my stress I have taken it as an opportunity to get to know my FI’s family a little better. Put names with faces. This situation would frusterate me, but if she’s willing to pay for them, I wouldn’t be so opposed. Can you imagine if she just started inviting people without offering to pay like my Future Mother-In-Law did?

By the way how does your Fiance feel about this? Getting upset with the Future Mother-In-Law is treding in dangerous waters because you’re marrying the first woman your Fiance ever loved. If he feels the same as you it would be easier to have him talk to her.
