Okay-trying to make this short. Future Mother-In-Law wants to do the centerpieces (not sure why) I want to use a florist-I dont want any guest working on my wedding day and will feel horrible if she is stuck making/transporting/carrying-up-the-stairs 20 centerpieces the day of the wedding while the rest of the ladies are getting hair/make-up/spa stuff ( I would actually love for her to join us). Fiance won’t talk to her-he says I’m being snobby ( ummm…?) I don’t want to hurt her feelings but I think this is too big of a job for her to take on herself. Any suggestions?

Maybe you could just put her “in charge” of the flowers via the florist. My Future Mother-In-Law is a gardening fanatic and she’s also retired. She expressed interest in helping with the flowers, but obviously our wedding/reception is way too big for her to do them herself. So I sent her a bunch of pictures of things I liked and we’re going to go to the florist together to pick things out. Then she’s going to be in charge of checking up on things, talking to the florist, etc. Just an idea. Your Future Mother-In-Law might just want a spot to be involved in something she’s good at/knowledgable about.

I agree with hotchild. Let her know that you want your guests to enjoy the wedding, and the pre-wedding parties and you don’t want her to be tied up with flower arrangements. Ask her to join you when visiting the florist as you want her advice.
