BM-is-a-TERRIBLE-acronym:  Glad she found a way to wear it again.

My mother wore a bridal shaped gown in the color black. Now mothers wearing black is considered taboo or something but whatever, she looked awesome. Sounds like your MIL is making sure that it doesn’t look like a wedding gown anymore so I don’t think you need to worry. I was worried about the dress my mother chose but when the day came I couldn’t care less. Other brides had their mothers/Mil’s wear white and during the wedding they hardly noticed.

It will be fine! Focus on other planning 🙂

MOB’s and MOG’s often wear champagne dresses, so I would wait and see what it looks like before I  waste  energy worrying about something over which I have no control.

BM-is-a-TERRIBLE-acronym:  whaaaaaaaaaaaat? WTF? Usually I’m completely laid back about what ppl choose to wear at weddings (I’m a bee who IRL always says let the BMs pick their own design, blah blah blah, who cares if your sister wears black, who cares if she wants to wear makeup, etc) but this goes waaaay overboard I think. Like the movie Monster-in-law overboard. In fact come to think of it wasn’t that a part of the movie…

Anyway, I’d recruit your FI on this one and ask him to tell her something along the lines of “soooo have you bought your dress yet mom?” She’ll say no and go into the details and maybe he can give her a strange look and say “will you be comfortable wearing bridal attire to a wedding where you’re NOT the bride tho? That seems weird to me…” No? Too bitchy? My PC gauge is off cuz I’m still reeling over her audacity!

I was ready to be all “OH NO SHE DI’INT!!!” when you posted this, but with all the changes? It’s a new gown entirely. I think this may be a “pick your battles” deal. Besides, every wedding I’ve been to where the MOB wore something horrendous (two words: feather cape), it was the subject of amused discussion by the guests after the event had ended. So don’t stress too bad 🙂

BM-is-a-TERRIBLE-acronym:   At least she gave you a heads-up about her repurposed dress.  Hang in there!

Meh if she is making all that changes it won’t look like a wedding dress. I wouldn’t stress about it

BM-is-a-TERRIBLE-acronym:  it sounds like she has a dress she loves and wants to use again! Ther are pictures of other brides in the bee who dyed their dresses after and they turned out stunning. I would maybe ask for her to go darker than champagne… But it sounds like it will be more like a ballgown when she is done.

when I clicked on this link I had visions of a very 1970’s white Princess Di dress with a high neck, low cut lace and lamb chop sleeves… Just remember, it could be worse!

BM-is-a-TERRIBLE-acronym:  here’s to hoping she’ll get the message!

And…maybe you could be your most magnanimous self and think to yourself that she will be wearing her nicest bestest dress to YOUR wedding and feel flattered or something. (I really AM trying to help!)

BM-is-a-TERRIBLE-acronym:  I doubt it will look very bridal. Maybe she is doing it because she paid so much for this particular dress, which I am sure she loves, and wants to be able to reuse it in some way.
