A suit of course! My dad is very…. Country.. and he HATES dressing up. Im not asking him to wear a tux like everyone else.. I just want a simple suit, and he’s fighting me tooth and nail the whole way…
Any other Bride’s daddy like this?

Yes, my Dad has already started giving me grief about wearing a suit. He doesnt even own one at this point! My Maid/Matron of Honor said to tell him that he needs to buy one anyway because he’ll need one for a funeral sooner or later;-) Haha. Some of us can joke like that with our Dads and some of us can’t.

My dad fought wearing a tie with his tux. We just let him wear a bow tie, even though he was THE ONLY ONE. Maybe offer to let him wear some comfy shoes? Maybe he’ll forget about the suit if his feet are happy

Oh my word… Our fathers must be related.
Mine was totally upset about me not wanting him to wear a Cowboy hat to the wedding.
His idea of dressed up:
Black Stetson Cowboy hat
Stand your ground girl! 😀

I told my dad that he could wear his cowboy boot if they are dark colored. We found a suit today that was navy blue, but of course, he doesnt like it :P. Gotta love em tho!

Future Father-In-Law is like that. He once went to a wedding in jeans saying “they like me for me, not what I wear.” He’s not country, just likes to be COMFY. He wore a mis-matched suit to his 2nd marriage (a year ago) meaning grey top and black slacks… then changed into sweatpants and sneakers for his reception. We hope to get him to wear the grey jacket and black slacks to our wedding, LOL!

My Future Father-In-Law is also like that. He wears sweats and sneakers ALL the time. He finally bought a suit for a wedding he went to this past summer which he could have worn to our wedding… but now he’s losing weight and it won’t fit him (which is GOOD, though, because his doctor has been telling him he needed to lose weight for years!). But I have no idea if anyone can convince him to buy a second suit in a 12-month period!

you never know…

I second telling him to wear whatever he wants. Once he realizes everyone will be in a suit he’ll probably change his mind. And if he doesnt, well….oh well. He’ll be in your pics but at least it will just be your dad being your stubborn old dad lol.

what if he doesn’t have to wear the jacket or tie or something along those lines? Could that be an agreeable compromise?

i put my mom in charge of my dad’s outfit. she can deal with him. i feel like he’ll be appropriate for the ceremony… and the layers (tie, we’re not doing jackets) will come off for the reception. that’s my dad, and i accept that.
