Hi ladies!! I once again, I turn to the hive. To really probably need to stop googling everything at this time bc there is SO much conflicting info out there.
Heres the deal- I am very newly pregnant.. 5 weeks ( today is the day my period should have came). Yesterday I had an apt to get my hhigh partially highlighted. After hearing/ reading a million diff things I just went ahead and did it. I did call my doc and as. And she said there’s really no evidence that it can harm or not harm an unborn baby. She said that it was totally up to me. I don’t like that really lol.. A yes or no answer would be great. Some people wait till after first tri.. An I horrible for going ahead and getting it done? My stylist does it out of her home and opened windows and turned on vents. Any advice would be lovely! Thanks

Eh its fine, I colored my hair through out my pregnancy. Long as you are in a vented room there is no harm to the baby or to you

I have every two months or so throughout my pregnancy. My stylist said she highlighted hair through both of her pregnancies until the day before she delivered with no problems. My doctor said it probably isn’t a problem. It should be fine.

My doctor said its fine, especially if you’re doing foil highlights, because its not touching the scalp. To be on safe side, though, I waited until 12 weeks (just got my hair highlighted yesterday!) I get blonde highlights and will continue to do so throughout the pregnancy.

I’ve done all-over color during my pregnancy but I waited until I was well into my second trimester. With highlights, I think you’re probably fine having them done during the first trimester because the chemicals aren’t coming in contact with your scalp, therefore they’re not being absorbed into your body. With proper ventilation, I think you’re good.
