Still waiting to hear back from that company I interviewed with. They said they needed someone right away, as the next 3 weeks will be busy before they hit their lull. The person making the decision told me during my interview that I would hear back by 1/13…. which has clearly passed. Yesterday was a holiday for them…. so I am hoping for something today…
If I don’t hear from them today, when should I “safely” follow back up?
Second question would be to whom? The last interviewee (the guy making the decision) or HR whom has really been pushing for my application? (HR was the only person that replied to my last thank you note.)
I really want this job but I don’t want to come across as desperate or push them away.
And I have already sent 5 people two separate thank you notes, since I had two interviews (everyone that I interviewed with or coordinated my interview). With the last person, I made sure to mention the things that were important to him as well as a mistake I made, which he loved as this is his choice on whom he hires.
I had a GREAT interview with the guy- we had a BIG laugh at a mutual mistake we both made (calling his former assistant by a name that I couldn’t have known). He took out his board and gave me a “professor-like” tutorial of his office and everyone that works underneath him. He complimented me a few times (saying I was doing well interview-wise and he likes my ambitions and the fact that I valued a family like environment, which is a huge deal to him). However he did mention twice that internal applicants had applied and that is a clear advantage over me.
I am up against 4 other people and all interviews are done- they scheduled all of us in one day to make sure they could make a decision as soon as possible. If it weren’t for the internals, I would think I have it but I am not sure.
