If you get him the other one because you think it’s better, it opens a can of worms you don’t want.  For the rest of your marriage, he will be trying to say what will get you to buy what he wants, not actually tell you what he wants.  The Bullova will serve him well for many years, I’m sure.

AHHHH! I’m going through something similar, trying to get my FI a watch as an engagement gift. Now I know all about men’s watches, and we’re not really any closer to choosing one. This must be how guys feel looking for rings!? Impossible. My budget is around $2000.

The omega seamaster is more highly regarded than the other two. They retail for a lot more than your budget if you’re looking for a new one, I think. I’ve been searching for a vintage (used) one and doing some research. If you decide to look for one of these, get on YouTube and learn how to spot a fake. Omega is an oft counterfeited brand.

Bulova is nice, I’m not too familiar with longines. I’m not sure if Bulova is not really a watch enthusiast brand… But if he LOVES it, then I think that’s the most important thing. Like our engagement rings, he would be the one looking at it. (Although I also want to be proud of the watch I get for my guy too!)

Check out http://www.watchuseek.com, it’s a watch forum much like wedding bee, but all about watches. You can search the forums and find lots of good info. Also search askmen.com watch snob, there are some handy articles and you can search for information on brands this way too.

Oris is another brand we’ve been looking at. Check out their dive watches- they are very reminiscent of Omega. The Oris watch I have my eye on is $2200, so they’ll be right in the price range.

Nice to know someone is in the same boat. 🙂 Good luck!

Get him the one he wants. He’ll be the one wearing it.
