BlushingHoneybee:  It means that number is the minimum amount you have to spend in order to have your event there. So, for example, if your food and beverage costs only come out to $15,000, and the minimum Food and Beverage spend is $20,000, you owe them the full $20,000.

BlushingHoneybee:  Our venue had a minimum of $6,000, meaning that we had to pay that amount even if the total cost of our guests’ food did not meet or exceed it. Our venue let us add things on (like a late-night snack, upgrading the bar package, our hotel room for the first night we were there, etc.) to help get to the minimum, if needed.

BlushingHoneybee:  My venue has a $6000 minimum with no fee to rent the space, but if we did not meet the $6000 we would have to pay the difference in a “rental fee”.

BlushingHoneybee:  Make sure to ask what goes toward the minimum, too! Some places are really strict and only food and drinks count. However, our venue counts things like linen and chair upgrades, the venue rental fee and a few other things toward the minimum. We’re going to end up going way over the minimum, but it’s nice when venues work with you if you’re working with a tighter budget.

BlushingHoneybee:  Yes, be really careful. It may just be food and beverages. It may not include required additions, like sales tax, a gratuity charge, or administration fees. It can all add up pretty quick.

Our minimum was $9,000 for a Sunday and it included everything in-house food, beverage, decor, chairs, tables, linens, china, glasswear, silverwear, tax, waitstaff so we easily met that minimum. The minimum for a Saturday wedding was $12,000 and we wouldn’t have been able to meet that coming in just above $11,000 so we would’ve had to pay the differance or added more.

Ours is different, it’s a minimum of 50 people and the least expensive option is $75pp. That would make th minimum $3750 Plus $2500 for the ceremony for a total of $6250. Its all inclusive except for florist, officiant and photography. Would it be easier to breakdown to per person?
