My best friend’s son ate steak, spare ribs, all sorts of those things at 9 months old. He’s a monster! But it’s stull rude for the parents to just assume. The child could do fine with the kids meal for one night. Plus, I’m sure the parents will also pack their own snacks.

This is one of the reasons why people have no interest in kids being at weddings and why their parents can stay home too. And I say this as a parent.

My sil used to be strict about not letting her kids eat chicken nuggets. In a situation like this, she would remove the breading and just give the kid the unbreaded chicken. No way should you pay for another adult meal for a 9 month old.

I’d talk to your caterer. Chances are this isn’t the first time they have seen something like this and they can help you navigate a solution. I *personally* wouldn’t feel that this is the hill to die on and would just give the kid a damn steak, worst case. It’s for sure annoying and ridiculous on their part, but I wouldn’t care enoguh to fight it. And I think all the eye rolling that other’s at their table will do more than makes up for it!
