It’s pretty much all in the title :). Some combinations of food that I love to eat that some people think are strange (and others think are perfectly normal) are:
- Fish sticks/breaded fish dipped in unsweetened apple sauce
- I also dip pork chops in apple sauce (more accepted one)
- I dip steak in ketchup when it’s not quite hitting the spot just right
- I like my apple pie with melted cheddar on top (more accepted one)
- I love to dip cheese cubes in chocolate fondue (everyone finds this weird, but everyone who I’ve convinced to try it has loved it!)
- I find all salty things are amazing with root beer (more accepted one)
What are some food combinations that you like to eat that others find a little strange?

“I also dip pork chops in apple sauce (more accepted one)”
I do this with all ham and pork! It’s a must. My Mother-In-Law has learned that when we come over for dinner, if she serves ham, she should pull out the applesauce for me, haha.
I can’t think of any truly bizarre things I like. But I will put cheese on just about anything…it’s a magic food. I tried crab cheesecake once, and it was fabulous.

ice cream and French fries.
cheese cubes in chocolate isn’t really strange. wonder why people told you it was weird.

fries dipped in ice cream or milk shakes. not that unusual, but i still get the ocassional side-eye from people.
i also dip my fries in spicy ranch dressing. so yummy!
that’s all i can think of right now.

Carrots dipped in peanut butter
…I dip my pork chops in applesauce, too!

french fries dipped in mayo

I dip anything fried in mayo and ketchup mixed up.

I do the fries and ice cream too.
I think I get more looks for eating ketchup with eggs. Darling Husband used to comment on it but has finally learned to deal with it. My Dad and sister both do it as well – must be a northern trait. I also like to dip my grilled cheese in ketchup, especially at Five Guys.
Potatoes/mashed potatoes dipped in ranch (and smoothered with cheese). Mother-In-Law always gets the ranch out when we have baked potatoes at her house.
As a kid I used to dip everything in pudding – like granola bars, candy, etc. People at school would freak.

Oreos and peanut butter!
And the weirdest is ketchup on homemade tacos. But only homemade.

I like ketchup on ham and cheese sandwiches, and peanut butter on every breakfast thing that is flat and doughy (french toast, pancakes etc). That’s about all I’ve got!

I love maple syrup on bacon and sausage.
Peanut butter on cheeseburgers is AMAZING.
Basically any combination of salty and sweet, I’m there. I read an article in NYT a couple months ago about peanut buttter and bead and butter pickle sandwiches and I won’t lie, I’m intrigued.

Eek, this one is really weird. My family used to eat peanut butter and pickle sandwiches growing up. I don’t even remember who came up with it.

@LilacViolet: Just saw your comment, after I posted about my family’s peanut butter/pickle sandwiches. But we used dill slices, not bread & butter pickles.

@MissSemi: Haha, I would try it either way!
