So I am stressing out over my caterer and want someone else to give me thoughts on what I should do.
I am getting married in New Orleans and live in Michigan. I made a trip down in July to take care of tasting and pick both my cater and the bakery. I found the cake first and just fell in love with it. Then they told me that this guy just bought the bakery and he also owns his own catering business. So I met with him and LOVED his food. His food and priced knocked everyone else out of the water. Plus he had a killer personality and would be great to work with….so I thought.
Well I told him I needed him to email a copy of the contract and the menu for me and the FIN since he wasn’t with me.
—-The issue is though that it has been 1 month since I had this meeting and nothing. I have emailed him 3 times and he messaged me once saying he was in the middle of switching offices and he would get it right to me. Umm still haven’t got it. I haven’t signed with the bakery either because that needs to go through him.
I really don’t want to go with anyone else because I loved his food. It makes me sad to think of settling on the other bland food I had at other places. How would you handle this?

I would probably call him and give him a firm deadline for the contract. Then I would email to follow up with a reminder of the deadline. If it isn’t met, I’d look elsewhere. While I understand moving issues, bad business practices can’t be excused.

I wouldn’t use someone who is difficult to contact. That is a stress you don’t need right now!
But I don’t think email is a very personal way to contact someone. I would call him. It’s hard to ignore calls and voicemails, MUCH easier to ignore your inbox!

Oh I forgot to mention that I did not get a direct number for him. I just have the bakery but he is physically not at the bakery.

Call or email and tell him that you need a contract right now. If you still cannot get ahold of him, move on and get tastings elsewhere until you find someone whose food you love who is prompt with responses. If he is this difficult to contact during the planning, that is a foreshadowing of how he will be on the wedding day.

@Selene221 I can’t taste with anyone else because I am across the country. I have tasted with two other places before I left and HATED their food. UGH

Wahoo I think problem might be solved! I just called the bakery and he happened to be in the building at that time. He is going to send me the contract and stuff on Tuesday. AND he gave me his cell phone number and his actual office number. He also reassured me that my date is already held on both calendars so no one will take my day!
