I would be very, very worried about trying to DIY food for that many people. There are a lot of things to consider. Who will prepare it and when, and where? How will you store it in the meantime? Who will take it to the venue and set it up? When? Who will serve? Who will keep things clean and full of food? Who will clean up? What will you do for plates, utensils, etc.? Most importantly, how will you keep the food at the proper temperatures throughout the event?
When you consider all of that, it may be worth it to use professional catering so that all of those issues will be taken care of. The expense shouldn’t be that much more than doing it yourself, and may even be less. It will certainly be less strain on you and your family.
