So, pretty sure I have a case of food poisoning. At first, I thought I just had a weird hangover (I got together with friends last night, but I only had three drinks during the night), but I’ve been feeling worse and worse as the day has gone on – I’m very, very nauseated, I threw up (which I never do), and I’m feeling warm/feverish. To make it worse, Fiance is driving home from PA, so I’m on my own right now 🙁
Anyone have tips or advice on how to make myself feel less miserable?

Liquids, liquids, liquids. And plenty of rest. The good, lights out, passed out sleep. Sorry you aren’t feeling well.

@SadieBee: If it’s really food poisoning, and you’re “losing it” through both ends (if you know what I mean), dilute apple cider vinegar with water, and drink throughout the day. Make sure it’s not too strong. I use 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water. You’ll be losing a lot of liquid, so stay hydrated with gatorade as well. It’s a home remedy, but it really helps settle your stomach. I think it has something to do with the Ph or alkaline balance. Feel better.

if so, get some activated charcoal capsules. they should be readily available at your local drugstore. i’ve tried this before….i felt worlds better!

I had food poisoning once (from both ends as Rocport mentions!) and it was horrible! Mine lasted about two days. I don’t know of anything that helped me other than staying near a bathroom and drinking lots of water/juice. I’m so sorry. I hope you feel better soon!!

What did you eat? And when you think of it, does it make you feel worse?

Yikes! I hope you feel better! I had food poisoning once, it was horrible. For me I had to drink lots of water and be careful for the next couple of days too. I stuck to broth soups, toast and tea because anything more than that was too much. I hope you get well soon!

Just about everybody has had food poisoning to some degree. A lot of “24 hr. flus” are really cases of food poisoning! I have been hospitalized for it twice and had several cases mild enough to treat at home. Usually the body does a fairly good job of cleansing itself, but lots of liquids does speed up the process. Hope you get over it soon!

Thanks for all the tips – I’m nursing ginger ale and hoping that my stomach settles down soon so that I can go to bed.
