Ok – now I’m kind of pissed.
Here’s my original thread:
Am I being too sensitive about this? Musicians stipulating free food in contract
I emailed the musician back with a few things I had concerns about his contract. I addressed the food section stating that since he was playing for the ceremony and cocktail, there was limited food available (appetizers) and asked if that would suffice.
I get a response back stating that if food was unable to be provided he would add a per diem to his contract. OK – now THAT is BEYOND RIDICULOUS. This isn’t about being fed and/or accommodated – this is about getting paid for your meals. This is really pissing me off.

Oh hell no. I would find someone else. I agree that that is ridiculous.

Don’t look for sympathy on these boards because everyone here thinks I am wrong for not seeing the point in paying for vendor meals if they are not working a full day.

I think thats crap and you should find someone else.

I don’t think there is any question that you should find a different vendor. Regardless of what is “right” or “wrong” in this situation it is obviously something you aren’t pleased with so start looking for someone else. The guy has a right to put whatever he wants (wthin legal parameters) in his contract and you have a right to not hire him. No harm, no foul.

I agree, that’s pretty ridiculous! He won’t even be there for dinner! Find someone else!!

I agree with edisongirl. If he is only working the ceremony and cocktail hour then he shouldn’t expect a meal.

@edisonsgirl: There’s a difference between only working 3 hrs and leaving before dinner and those working 6+ hrs and being with you all day long, through dinner, and until you leave…
I personally think he is ridiculous and I would def. find another vendor. For goodness sakes… demanding dinner when he won’t even be there for it!? I’ve never seen that happen….
