A family friend walks up to me and says:
She rambles on and on about proper weight gain being an important part of a healthy pregnancy.
The truth of the matter is, I’ve gained plenty, especially for how far along I am.
Defensively, I start to explain this:
But she cuts me off, shocked.
She changes her tune and tells me that sometimes counting calories is a necessary part of a healthy pregnancy.
In just three seconds, she went from “You are too small!” to “You are too big!” But all in the name of a healthy pregnancy!
Her flip-flopping was so ridiculous that it made me laugh.
And when you can laugh off the annoying comments?
Now that is part of a healthy pregnancy.

People are just ridiculous in general when it comes to their opinions of other peoples weight. Throughout my pregnancy people would gasp in horror when I told them how far along I was, they would either say my belly was too small and I was starving my baby or say my belly was too low and I might go into labor at any minute. I gained 45lbs in total and some people still thought that wasnt enough. I am always tempted to say “Oh I didnt realize you were an OB” in a really sweet voice

@roxy821: Gotta love an animated rant…and I totally agree with you! A sense of humour & having the ability to laugh off annoying comments IS part of a healthy pregnancy. You are so right & this post is so cute 😉

@Bells- I’m amazed at the number of people that are obsessed with someone else’s weight. I would never go up to a heavy person and comment on their weight. But I have to laugh or else I’ll kill them lol
@MaggieF- Saw it on FB and since it made me laugh figured I had to share.

So true! I have lots of people tell me I’m too big. But really I’m right on schedule. I probably look big because it is all belly and hip weight. Thanks for the cute picture!

I gained 30 lbs with my son, 26 years ago, and the doctor said “You are gaining too much weight” So I tell her, I am eating veggies and drinking water and plenty of juice, I haven’t had chocolate and junk food in months… and I am not stopping!” Sheesh! My baby was below average (at that time 6lbs 81/2 ouches) and I lost 20 lbs… I held onto to those 10 lbs that wouldn’t go away… Oh well!

Hahaha. I love the pictures that went along with this! I definitely would have pointed out her change in opinion. I wouldn’t be able to hold back.

geeez! why do people feel its ok to comment on your size when you are preganant? i seriously do not get it at all. I’ve had several people ask if i’m having twins! I’m not and I’m only 19.5 weeks along. I also had a woman at work say “you should not be that big yet” really?! thanks lady!
