Are you locked into working with one specific bridal store? Why not look for the Diana somewhere else, at least to try it on and see if you really love it?

Or you could check Preownedweddingdresses, recycledbride, craigslist, etc. to see if anyone in your area has one for sale – again, maybe you don’t end up buying from them, maybe it isn’t the right size, etc., but it would help to at least see it in person and they might let you try it on?

Well, I had straps added to my dress but it did have some differences from what you’re considering. Mine was a taffeta gown and I had them order the extra fabric for the sleeves since I was too tall for them to need to hem the dress (and use that extra fabric). Anyway, I’m not quite sure what the exact cost for adding the sleeves was but altogether my alterations were around $225 or so. This was for taking in the bust, adding the cap sleeves, and adding a bustle. I’d imagine most of the cost probably came from taking in the bust but I’m really not too sure. Hope that helps a bit! 🙂

@raisedonrobbery:  I totally get where you are coming from!  I am in LOVE with this dress as well, but only one store in my hometown carries it.  The size is so small that I can’t get it over my hips (its about 2 sizes too small) so it’s really hard to tell how it would look in my size.

I think a lot of the appeal of the Diana is how the top of the dress and the neckline is so beautifully sculpted.  I think it would be hard to replicate by adding straps to another dress.  If I were you, I would try on Enzoani dresses in similar shapes (fit and flare-ish) to see how the style looks on you.  Or…are you willing to drive a couple of hours to see it somewhere in person?  It’s not a cheap dress, might be worth it!

P.S. In person…it’s beautiful 🙂  I’m ordering it even though I haven’t “fully” tried it on.
