I can honestly say… this thread is EPIC. I love it. Laughing and loving all the rings. And, can I say, this is the first time WB has helped me with my job… I teach ESL and I’ve been talking to my students about “backhanded compliments,” and many of the posts on this thread have such helpful examples!! So, WB for the win!! (Also helps me feel less guilty about trolling boards at work)

Also, here’s my ring. I don’t really get a lot of compliments IRL, but I could care less cause I love it and it’s me. <3

Mine often gets over in person really. Sometimes I get “is your ring fake?” and I never know how to take it.. compliment or insult? Here is just my engagement ring alone…

Here is my ring with the band we bought together (top) and the band that was my great grandmothers. Which when I’ve shown people this picture they said “oh you’re not gonna have matching bands?” or “thats a lot for your hand, don’t you think?”

I dont understand the point of this thread. Why do you all need external validation for what you have? That’s so crazy.

Like “haters” are those with nothing to say about your ring? what? Why? Maybe they don’t like your ring.  That’s not a bad thing.  not everyone will like your ring and to call people out cause they don’t like yours or find yours gorgeous is pretty childish.  It’s a ring.

forgotusername:  Oh come on, lighten up a little. If you read the OP’s post she states the point of this thread is to compliment other ladies on their ring. Its all supposed to be positive. To say call us childish for wanting our ring complimented is like calling 99% percent of newly engaged bees childish. Everyone posts ring pics. It’s nice to hear congrats, that’s beautiful, etc. Compliments don’t make me feel validated. I’m obviously still rocking my ring, I just felt weddingbee was the place to gush on ALL things wedding.

lulu0712:  I love bezel settings! Since I also have one, I know that they are not as popular out there, but your ring is gorgeous!

aimerxoxo:  I love  your ring! It’s nice to see a ring design that stands out and is beautiful in a more distinct way.  Your rung is so intriguing with the twisted band and engraving,  your fiance dud a great job!!

I see that a lot of ladies on here seem to think that telling someone their ring is cute an insult. There is so much wrongs in this assumption.

First of all, it does not mean that the one who said it thinks that the ring is too small… It means that she/he thinks it is cute! Can a big teddy bear, a huge pink castle or a large size dress be cute…? Yep? So why not a ring? Is a small castle that is cute a bad thing? No?

I think that is more in the head of the one owning the ring, maybe she has a feeling that the ring is too small for her tastes, I don’t see how anyone could think that “cute” is an insult otherwise. How sad!

I don’t even think “small” is an insult either, but I know it could be taken as one so I would never tell anyone that, but cute??? I realize that I have insulted a lot of ladies with gorgeous rings going “oh my goood your ring is so cute!!!!”…..

I love dainty jewellery (no matter if the stone itself is tiny or Beyoncé-sized), and I would love to have a “cute” ring. Either with a small stone or a big stone. To ME cute is a definition of style, not size… Am I totally wrong in this…?

Most importantly, just be happy for your gorgeous rings ladies and please try not to read too much into the compliments you get, you just steal the joy from yourself!  I would be devastated if anyone have thought that I was being mean when I have said that they have a cute ring 🙁
