I’m very confused. You had a cyst removed in the ED? Ovarian cysts are removed in the OR, usually laparoscopically, when you are put asleep. I highly doubt you had an ovarian cyst removed. Are you sure it wasn’t a cervical polyp?

I have about 2 ovarian cysts a month which are dehabilitating.  I hope child birth is less pain because it would be a piece of cake.

But I doubt that’s the case.

My sister had an ovarian cyst and gave birth. She says childbirth hurt worst but she did not actually have an easy labor. The baby had a large head, she was pushing too hard and ended up tearing very badly and getting a prolapsed vagina. Sorry, I probably shouldn’t have said that, I was just saying that it probably hurt worst for her because of that.

@jbridea:   I’ve had 3 surgically removed – mainly because they have become infected after bursting.  I’ve also had to have the surgey because once I had 3 large ones that were literally moving my ovary.

I opt out of surgery most of the time, so they pump me with morphine and I’m given a good amount of vicodin to take when needed.

It’s pretty awful.  They come most around my period time.

I had 2 dermoid cysts removed from both my ovaries via laparotomy. The pain afterwards was terrible but I’m grateful that my doctor was able to keep my ovaries intact. I’m worried about going through childbirth as well, I hope I can be able to give birth naturally because I already feel like my surgery was like a c-section and the recovery wasn’t very easy. I can’t imagine going through the same with a baby..

I’m 17 weeks pregnant and back in the spring I had a complex cyst that partially ruptured, filling my abdomen with blood and other fun things. (Sorry, Too Much Information…)

I really hope that giving birth doesn’t feel like that, because I could not stand up straight!

I had one removed August 2011, it was about the size of a large orange.  Apparently my body doesn’t absorb pain medication very well, so my recovery was pretty much without any kind of pain medicine… Luckily I had 2 weeks off work to heal, but it was horrible! Hoping recovery from childbirth won’t be this bad, unless they have to do a c-section… really not looking forward to that!

*edit* mine was not removed laparoscopically since it was a dermoid, it was too big and solid  to remove with a small incision. I have a probably 4 inch scar, similar to a c-section scar. From what I hear the procedures are pretty similar, except to remove the cyst they don’t cut as deep, like into your uterus with the c-section.
