Well we are 11 days away, but I will answer anyway since we already gave each other our gifts! Darling Husband built me an entertainment center and finished our office, which I have been wanting to do for months. I came home one morning (after spending the night at my moms) and he had redecorated the way I wanted to, finished painting and rearranged the furniture. He also put a cabinet that used to be our TV stand in there with my records and record player. I was so surprised!

I just gave Darling Husband his gift tonight. I framed a print that said “True Love will find you in the End” which is the title of our first dance song by Wilco. Then I told him to open the back and inside was a pair of tickets to go see Wilco (his favorite band) at the end of September.

On our anniversary we are just going to have dinner at Seasons 52 (where we had our first dinner as husband and wife) and then in December we are going on a cruise.

Is it bad that I forgot if we even did gifts? It’s only been 6 months! Must be my new mommy brain, I have no memory right now.

But I do remember what we did. We went to the town we got married at and stayed at a B&B for the weekend. Not the one we got married in b/c it’s not dog friendly and we wanted to bring our pup. They had a big animal rescue event that weekend, so we went to that and the dog beach, and walked around and took pictures at the same places our photographer did a year earlier. It was fun b/c then I was pregnant and we got lots of fun family pictures with the dog, which was such a change from a year earlier at the wedding.

My husband and I took a three day weekend from work and on the night of our first anniversary, we got dressed up and went out to a nice steakhouse for dinner.  We didn’t do gifts, just cards.

We didn’t have much money, so we just went out to dinner, and went for a long bike ride along one of the huge trails in the area. It was fun! This year, we are planning on taking a trip somewhere, thinking of an all inclusive, possibly the Excellence Riviera in Cancun πŸ™‚

We got married in February but had our wedding in September, so we planned our honeymoon over our 1 year “marriage” anniversary. We went on a weeklong Caribbean cruise. We had talked in advance that we weren’t going to do gifts because the honeymoon was our “gift”, but the morning of our anniversary, when I walked onto our balcony, he had a Tiffany’s box with a beautiful necklace inside.

Yeah, he’s a keeper!

I’m close to hitting the 3 year mark (I should really start getting away from here, huh?), but for our first anniversary, we spent a week at the Grand Floridian at Disney. Our anniversary is NYE, so we got to celebrate with some of the best fireworks ever!

For our 2nd anniversary, we took a week-long cruise. We pretty much just use our vacation time for our anniversary, especially since it is around Christmas and we typically have a few days off anyways.

We bought a new car about 6 months after we got married so we agree at that time that that would be our “gift” to each other for our first anniversary.  We went out for a nice dinner and Darling Husband got me flowers.

Just finished writing my card and packing my gift.  It’s a reflection on all of our firsts.  I took a map of Canada and put all of the places we’ve been together over the past 8 years of our relationship.  I got him a ‘backroads’ mapbook of Ontario and a book about 100 unusual things to see in Ontario, and I said that I was going to take him on a good old fashioned roadtrip. (LIke we used to do in the ‘old days’).

I’m also instating a tradition of us watching our wedding DVD slideshow (made by our photographer) every morning of our anniversary.  (I packed it in the gift bag).

I also got him this little tiny metal mouse.  It is to remember our first camping trip from the first year we were dating.  (We had a memorable mouse story on the trip….plus, I have taken a liking to buying him small metal animals every now and then…before it was just birds, but now I’m expanding into other wings of the animal kingdom.)

Looking forward to Saturday!

Darling Husband has been telling me that he has presents planned for me. Fun!

We’re opting to spend the weekend with extended family at the cottage….we think it’s the best way to spend the weekend: together with people we love to see but rarely do.

We went to dinner at The Melting Pot, which is what we did during our mini-moon.
