Technically over budget as we were originally looking at moissanite, and almost pulled the trigger on it, but at the very last second I determine I was just not happy with the crushed ice moissanite loose stone we purchased and I was able to return it, and we went with lab diamond instead!

So we technically spent over 3x than the original moissanite budget but I’m happy we did!

Never had a budget but I knew I wanted to keep it under 5K, so I was able to get 2 rings …A moissy/Diamond and a sapphire/diamond .. cause I love all things sparkly and love getting a good deal ♥️ Plus I love being able to interchange. The original ring I had was a hand me down white sapphire that I still love and have in my jewelry box…but my spouse wanted to get something that I would pick out ♥️

My husband’s budget for the ring was $20k which I thought was way too high. We picked out the ring together and ended up spending $11k. I bet he’s glad he asked for my input, lol.

Went around ~$70 over the budget I had in mind, but SO was supportive so I could get what I really wanted.

He didn’t give me a budget which was so much more stressful for me. I didn’t want to spend too much of his money but also really wanted the center stone to be a certain size with good clarity/cut. Actually after he ordered the ring I chose, I couldn’t sleep that night and begged him to change to a slightly cheaper ring.  The ring still turned out to be absolutely beautiful and I love it so much!!

When we started looking at rings, my husband didn’t really give me a budget.  I had a vague idea of what I wanted, and we went to a local jewelry to look at rings.  We priced out a custom version of what I wanted and it was about $20k.  My husband ended up getting a custom ring made through a family connection and it was around $10k, which I later learned was his max budget.

There was never a set budget but a ballpark range and we went 4k over that. Worth every penny!

But that was the stage we were at in life and that was what was important to us. Had we had a house that needed renovations or kids or other things in life that needed our financial attention I am sure we would have been more budget-conscious.

My ring cost about $600 (yes hundred, not thousand) which I was MORE than happy about! We had been together over 10 years (neither of us were in a hurry since we aren’t having kids, we had already bought a house, and we knew we’d get married eventually so it wasn’t a high priority) and I didn’t want to waste a ton of money on a ring when it could go towards home improvement, bills, groceries, etc.

Plus I have tiny fingers so a small diamond was fine, would be too worried about losing it, and didn’t want a big ol’ diamond as I don’t really care about jewelery or anything. Heck, I don’t even wear it now, just my wedding band so I’m glad he went cheap!

I would never upgrade it as I don’t wear it (it’s save in it’s box at home) and I’m sentamental towards it as-is since he picked it out all on his own!

@sarathemermaid:  I think mine was around $550-600 and I was THRILLED! We had already bought a house and everything together so I would rather that money go towards bills especially since we don’t have a ton of money to begin with. I did NOT want to go into debt over a ring or have a ring cost more than our car. XD

We did not have a budget for the ering, though he probably didn’t have to worry about that because I told him I didn’t want a diamond.

We had a budget of $500 for our wedding bands; we went over by about $100 as the kind I wanted ended up being more expensive than I thought. Hubby bought a very cheap ring so that I could spend most of the budget, which I really appreciated 🙂

My OH’s budget was £3k. He was ok with me contributing, and originally I was looking at putting about the same again in, so £6k total budget.

Looked properly and considered size and proportions, and quote has come in at £3785 for what I want (but hoping to shave a little more off).

My DH asked me to basically tell him what I wanted before we got engaged and had a rough budget of 8-10K. I looked at diamonds for a while and nothin felt right at the time and then found moissanite. I decided on a simple 3 stone moissanite ring and a plain gold band, cost ~$2300. While I thought I wanted all the finger coverage it turns out the 3 stone just wasn’t my style or at least this particular ring wasn’t my style so I was able to exchange it for a solitare (used the same stones/gold) and made the side stones into stud earrings. Very very happy with how it turned out! We actually had money left over from the rework and I was able to get a 3/4 emerald wedding band which I adore. I paid the remaining balance, ~$300, since I wanted to change the ring.

In the end I am really glad we didn’t spend 10K on my ring because we were able to put down an all cash deposit on our wedding venue which we wouldn’t have been able to do if I used up the budget.

@StacyLynn313:  Yes same! We used what we could have spent on a big wedding or expensive wedding ring set on our dream honeymoon and we were able to buy a home 6 months after getting married 🙂
