Hello bees, this is just for fun, so please feel free to share!
Some questions that might be interesting to answer…Any fun announcement stories? Did you plan out a special way to tell people, or was it more spontaneous? Who did you choose to tell in person, and why? What were their reactions? How long did you wait to tell people, and why? Did you post on social media?
I may steal your ideas when I become “officially” engaged 😉
I am especially excited to tell my 2 nephews that they will have a new uncle, as they adore my SO!

We called our sets of parents right after it happened. My future Father-In-Law was especially sweet and welcoming, which got me even more excited. Called other VIPs like aunts, uncles, cousins, siblings, and best friends over the course of the afternoon/evening a few hours after it happened.
Two days later we texted other friends and other people we wanted to find out before we posted it on social media.
After we got back from the trip where we were engaged, 3 days after the engagement, we each posted on Instagram.
I told my team at work in person when I was back at work 4 days later.
I’m so glad that we called all of the important people. I will remember those conversations and where we called them from forever 🙂

Literally everyone I was close to knew before I did! They were all involved in the proposal so I had no one left to tell haha. Obviously did not stop me from spamming people with ring photos though 🙂

I wore my engagement ring when we went to visit my parents a couple of days after getting engaged and we just waited for my mother to notice. Her reaction when she finally did notice was great! We tried the same thing with his parents, but they never noticed so we eventually just told them. We told other family and friends in person as we saw them over the following few weeks, or over the phone if we knew we weren’t going to be seeing them. We never did any sort of social media announcement.

I live abroad so sent WhatsApp ring pics to my parents, brother and close friends. We phoned people in-country, including my husband’s family.

We got engaged on the second day of a two week vacation, and didn’t announce it till we were home! It was quite nice having it as something for us for a little while, but I was ready to burst when we got home.
We visited people where possible (parents first, grandparents, local aunts and uncles), and basically said “so we have an announcement…” And I’d flash my ring. It was so lovely seeing people’s reactions and getting to share the joy! I’d recommend doing it in person whenever possible!

My sister knew I was planning to propose on Christmas Eve, so she made sure she skyped me while my mum was still there, so I could tell them. She was happy to hear he accepted. My mum basically didn’t care much (she tends to not be very interested). After that I posted on Facebook for all my friends (and some colleagues) to see.
Two days later we were invited to his parents for post-Christmas dinner and he kept his hand in his pocket until everybody was seated around the table to then show off his “present”. They were so happy and immediately opened a bottle of bubbly.

We were in Mexico celebrating my Birthday and our 10 year anniversary. I called my mom the next day to tell her and she of course called all my family in turn. To tell the rest of my close friends while we were down there, I sent a snapchat of me smiling with my ring and text that said “FINALLY!”

All of our close family and friends knew before it even happened! My Fiance had been secretly talking to everyone about the plan; not only did he organize a pretty elaborate proposal with my parents’ help, he also arranged a small engagement celebration with drinks later that night. For the first time in our relationship I was outplanned. 😂
But for everyone else close to us that didn’t know, we called and sent text messages. We made sure all of our loved ones knew about it, and once they did, I just changed my relationship status to ‘engaged’ and posted a picture of my Fiance proposing on the life event. It. Blew. Up. I was getting notifcations about likes and comments for almost a week!
