He really liked what he seen, it has a corset back which got me a huge grin hahhh!! When it came in and  I tried it on, we were on our way to go fishing so I wasn’t ‘dolled up’ as it were and he seen it for a total of 2 minutes. However I’m sure that I will get a bigger, more emotional reaction on our big day, with my birdcage veil and makeup and hair done ๐Ÿ™‚

I think my fiance has to be extremely confused about what my dress looks like. I showed him waaayy too many dresses to get an idea of what he likes and I bring it up more often than I should. I just really want him to like it !!

My Fiance knows all about my dress.  I actually had him pick it out with me, which was one of the most beautiful, special moments we’ve had in the wedding planning process ๐Ÿ™‚  So glad I brought him and had him look with me.   The store we went to was so fantastic, too, and included him.  They were 100% happy to have him look with me if that’s what I wanted.

Both my ceremony and reception dresses are sheath style (he isn’t a fan of ballgowns) but he was told I will look like a “white cupcake monster” and “prepare for a giant dress” by members of my family, so I’m pretty sure he’s convinced I’m wearing a huge ballgown!  I’m not knocking ballgowns, I fell absolutely in love with a giant tulle Vera but in the end the sheath/s won out.

My Fiance hasn’t seen any photos of me in the dress nor any stock photos either, however I’m pretty certain that he knows it’s lace since I keep banging on about our ‘theme’ being lace, sparkles and pearls. I think someone accidentally gave away the neck line a few weeks back when they commented that they liked that the sweetheart neckline of my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses (which Fiance has seen) match the neckline of my dress! Lol! that’s the trouble when too many people have seen the dress, they all have to keep quiet. I trust them all but things do slip out accidentally. My Mum, Dad, Sister, Brother-In-Law, Future Mother-In-Law, Future Father-In-Law and Future Sister-In-Law have all seen it!

I went dress shopping for the first time yesterday and gosh how I wish he had been there! It’s so impossible trying not to tell him absolutely everything but I know he really wants it to be a surprise. But since I’m currently veeeery conflicted about two dresses I’ve vaguely described them to him. Example, one is Vera Wang, it’s whimsical, a little non-traditional, it’s princessy….the other is from David’s Bridal, it’s more traditional, very wintery and makes my waist look awesome haha. That’s all he really knows aside from the fact that they’re both ballgowns. But it’s so hard not telling him everything, especially since I am so conflicted right now and would really love his opinion.

He does know what my aunt’s dress looks like though since there’s a chance I’ll be wearing that for first look photos. I’ll be altering it though and while I’ve described some ideas for the alterations he won’t be there with me when I get them done (maybe).

He knows that it’s white and strapless, and that I am so excited for him to see it on the big day, as I think he will love it! He also knows that his suit was a bargain compared to my dress ๐Ÿ™‚

My Fiance has seen heaps of pictures of dresses I like and the stock photo of my number 1 so far.  I love giving him teasers of it because he gets super excited, and I just can’t help it!! I wouldn’t show him a photo of me in the dress though, and he won’t see me in it until I am walking down the aisle.  I am quite the tomboy and he has never seen me with my hair and makeup professionally done, and I am quite terrible at doing it myself so I think the difference in that alone will blow him away, without the excitement of wondering what dress I’m wearing lol.  I also wanted to know whether he liked the style as I wanted to match his vision of a bride.  Glad I did too as he HATED the first couple I liked – so did I when I went to try them on luckily.

Fiance wants to be surprised, so the dress is in a bag now. He knows I have simple taste, and I may have let slip some general details of the dress though. Otherwise, the big reveal will be on wedding day!

What he knows:

  • It’s not white – it’s champagne (I had to call him and ask if he was super attached to the idea of a white white dress, it’s something we hadn’t thought to talk about beforehand)
  • It’s the style I’ve always wanted – ballgown
  • It was the first I tried on
  • It has pockets!

My rule is that if you aren’t invited to the wedding (co-workers and such) you can see photos of the dress, but if you are invited then you can’t. So I placate those people by telling them that it has pockets. It seems to work. Haha!

The proposal hasn’t happened yet (he wants it to be a surprise and will only tell me it’ll happen before my birthday – May – eek!!) but I have already been checking out dresses to give myself an idea of what I might want (and how much it will set us back).

He will have no idea what it looks like until I am walking down the aisle. I have even blocked him on Instagram so he can’t see which designers I’m following or the pics I’m liking.

I want to wear my dream dress but I also want him to look at me and think, “Yep, that’s the image I had in my head of my bride” so I asked him to close his eyes and imagine me in my wedding dress and describe to me what I looked like and what he said was pretty much on par with what I was thinking. The only things that were different was he saw me with an updo (I was thinking more of half-up) and that I was wearing gloves. GLOVES!! Does he not know me at all?

Chaitea:  Fiance went shopping with me to pick out the dress so he knew all about it. I bought the dress in August for our May wedding and by September he had forgotten what it really looked like (he only remembered that it was white, strapless and had a corset back). He was still emotional day of, it’s a totally different world being in the dress shop and being all done up with everyone there on the day of. I haven’t regretted him going with me for a second, I was so secure and comforable knowing ahead of time he liked the dress and thought I looked good in it. ๐Ÿ™‚
