I left the tag that shows a picture of my dress in the trash and Fiance was soooo mad that he almost saw it.

I wanted to show my dress to him while I was wearing it, but he said it was “bad luck” and that he wanted to be surprised. However I did show him a picture of the dress and he liked it.

Actually nobody has seen me in the dress yet. I bought it online on Etsy (it’s a vintage Jessica McClintock wedding dress from the early 80s).

He knows that it is mostly tulle, not too fluffy, and incredibly unique and gorgeous. But that’s it ๐Ÿ™‚ I basically told him that it would be no fluffier than my senior prom dress.

My Fiance knows how much it cost and that it’s not a ball gown. Only because he knew I didn’t like that style. I really like sheath dresses but then I tried on a fit and flare and fell in love with it. It’s a champagne (light gold) fit and flare with ivory lace and silver beading. He doesn’t like mermaids or trumpets so I hope he likes it. I know I do!

My Fiance knows the silhouette of my dress – and I wasn’t too happy about the way he found out.

We were out to dinner with my best friend and her sister. Her sister is getting married the week before me. She asked to see a picture of my dress during dinner, so I showed her. She then loudly exclaimed “Oh! It’s a mermaid!”. I was so upset! When she realized what she had done, she said “Oh… sorry”.

The next morning, Fiance and I were lounging around the house and he says “So you have a mermaid dress, huh?”

I’m over it. He says he doesn’t like mermaid dresses, however he was working a wedding one weekend last year shortly after we got engaged and he said he liked the bride’s dress. Later that month when the photographer posted photos on the blog, it was a mermaid dress!

At first I was nervous about what he would think, but he really doesn’t seem to care that it’s mermaid. <br />

Chaitea:  he knows nothing, but wants to know nothing and to keep every aspect of it a surprise! Granted I haven’t found “the one” yet, but  pretty sure it will be a mermaid or trumpet style with some aspect of lace. I like to play games with my Fiance and ask him what he wants me to wear and what he thinks I might pick by flipping through my wedding mags and he’s actually really spot on which is cool. He actually picked out a dress as his  favorite, which Is one of my top choices too!

and then I really like to mess with him by saying, “what if I came out in a white pant suit” just to keep him completely clueless in which he responds, ” you’d still look amazing in that pant suit and rock it!” — gosh I love him ๐Ÿ˜‰

Chaitea:  My Fiance knows pretty much everything about it… we;; I should say I have told him, it doesn’t mean he knows it. He’s not the type to remember, so even if I showed him pictures he would still be surprised on the day haha.

Chaitea:  I had a moment of regret after buying my dress (I went alone and am a petite bride so the fit was massive on everything). I was worried because I got something not quite as traditional and poofy as I thought. I needed reassurance but didn’t want to ruin the surprise so Fiance suggested I find a picture of a SIMILAR dress online and show it to him. I showed him one that is the same basic idea, but a totally different design and he loved it so I felt reassured. He’ll still be surprirsed and I feel good about my decision. ๐Ÿ™‚

I totally suck at keeping secrets, and we are so close and I value his opinion…. So….. I got the dress shopping with my mom and I am keeping it at her house so I’m not tempted to try it on for him. Then, I went online to Sophia Tolli’s website and pulled up 3 dresses. One was mine, the other two weren’t. I made sure to pick out 3 totally different sillouhettes, but since they were from the same designer, they all had a similar feel. I told him to pick out the one he thought I got, and he refused to play ๐Ÿ™ He didn’t want to pick the wrong one and hurt my feelings. So a few weeks after that, I just couldn’t take it anymore, and showed him the pictures on my computer. He likes it! But he thinks my super long train is overkill and says that I prob paid way too much for a dress I’m going to wear for one day. He also isn’t a fan of the expensive wedding we are having (he has no clue how much it really is costing), but my parents are paying for most of it. We are both very frugal, but this is the one day I want spot on and perfect. So he just shakes his head, tells me to do whatever I want, and promises to show up. Hehe. But since I am getting so excited about it, he decided that he wants to wear tails and be super fancy with me. I think he’s coming around!

MeandMyLouboutins:  I am hoping mine forgets what he saw too! I am mad at myself for showing him. But we still aren’t doing a first look, so hopefully “the moment” will still be there.

My fiancé has seen me in it. We’re not terribly traditional and certainly don’t believe it’s bad luck. I  actually want to get dressed with him the day of the wedding but my best friend is balking so we’ll see.

he already knew which dress I bought because I asked his opinion about buying a Chinese knock off. he knew when it came because I was super excited. And he asked me to see it.  He was very emotional and liked it. He got sentimental and told me not to sell it after which was cute.

Mine knew when i got it, cause i went a weekend away to Amsterdam to get it. I tried to keep it a secret, but after a month i showed him a pic but only the top. It has a flowery strap on one shoulder and i dont know if it would be best to remove it, cause thats not really me. And it has bling, and my Fiance is not really into bling. So i showed him and he liked it. But it’ll still be a surprise.

He has a general idea and doesn’t want to know details, not even a first look on our wedding day, because he wants to be surprised. I picked up my pre-alterations dress on a whim one day while out shopping long before my fiance proposed to me, it was only $25 and I loved it, so I thought, what the heck.

Luckily now after we’ve been engaged, I know what he strongly doesn’t like after I showed him some pictures of different dresses online. So fortunately I picked correctly that day and I’m super excited because I know he’ll love it too.
