My moms friend daughter had a 120k£ wedding. The couple was flown in on a helicopter and they had elephants. And all of that in London.

I saw a wedding where the bride had 20ft trees brought into the church. Because everyone wants trees in a cathedral?

I clearly need more “extra” friends, all the weddings I have been at were super tame compared to this. Though one friend of a friend did have “Beer Burros”, like two little donkeys that wandered around with kegs on their back dispensing beer. I did not know that was a thing.

ke_murphy: I was | | this close to hiring a fireworks display at our wedding, but realized it would be after 10:30  before they would be lit, and many of our guests would be gone by then. Also, the starting at $2,500 price tag didn’t really fit in with my budget. Meh.

A truck pulled up that had pizza ovens in the back, and opened up to have actual wood fired pizza ovens to make brick oven pizzas. In addition to the regular food. It was an INSANE amount of food and I am on a pre-wedding diet so I could just watch as everyone plowed into plate after plate. I was so jealous.

wealtheow :  I’ve heard of the owl ring bearer in Queensland, Australia. I might have been interested to use it if we got married in that particular region. The owl was trained and the proceeds went towards “raptor vision” a charity that rescued and helped sick owls.

I’ve never been to an extra wedding! This thread is great.

Going to a wedding soon in the British Virgin Islands. They have chartered an entire 300 foot yacht and one day they are having a champagne and caviar party where they are taking us to a private beach and spraying champagne everywhere.

I have seriously never been more excited for anything in my life. I might be more excited for this wedding than my own LOL

ktrv927 :  Ninety percent of the weddings I have been to are the traditional church ceremony and generic hotel, 3 course plated meal reception afterwards followed by dancing. So basically, nothing.

sapphire27 :

We live in the Portland, OR area and we might have wedding llamas. There is a company that has these two llamas you can rent for your wedding. I think it’s cute!

My parents went to a wedding anniversary event a couple years ago where they hosted at quite a big mountain manse/castle in Spain (they are from the area and likely own the property).  They had El Celler de Can Roca (in a year when it was the No.1 restaurant in the world.. this year its No.3 but its frequently more or less up there) cater the dinner.  It was this massive multi-course meal as is the style of the restaurant.  I can’t imagine how much they spent to host this.  A single person eating at El Celler de Can Roca with paired wines is 280 Euros, or $330…

But they were celebrating 50 years of marriage and he had recently had a very near-death experience so I think they were like “fuck it let’s celebrate!”.  It’s also not terribly unlikely that they are friends with the parents of the three brothers who own/run El Celler de Can Roca, so maybe they got a bit of a deal?

Anywho, of experiences I know of IRL that’s definitely the most jaw-dropping wedding-ish experience.

I saw this in a post of a facebook friend. You know that Jennifer Lopez performance where they were projecting various animations on her dress? Well, this bride entered their reception venue, stood at a spot then had things projected on her dress. After that, the groom (which was already in the venue) came to her and escorted her on the dance floor.

In our country, we have this massive 18th birthday parties for girls called debuts. So with this entrance, I was thinking is this a wedding or debut? If you get to watch their wedding video, it’s like the groom was only there to ‘escort’ the ‘debutante’. It didn’t look like a wedding because I did not feel any emotions, just a show of extravagance and it was all about the bride.

I get that weddings are mostly about the bride. But if your husband looks like he’s only escorting you and he’s not being celebrated as well, then I think something’s wrong there.<!–/data/user/0/com.samsung.android.app.notes/files/share/clipdata_180626_071135_572.sdoc–>

1. The bride’s dress had over 1000 tiny diamonds on it. I don’t want to know how many were lost during the night.

2. They flew in Emeril from US to Korea to have him cater their dinner as head chef.

3. Bride was carried in by 8 stud muffins on a chair covered in rhinestones.

4. The wedding favors were brand new Samsung TVs. They even offered deliveries.

5. The bridal party each got a Tiffany diamond ring as a gift. Groomsmen each got a $1500 bottle of single malt scotch and box of Cuban cigars along with Tiffany cigar cutters.

6. Both bride and groom’s sides wedding parties were flown to Maldives for a week for an extended bachelor/bachelorette party.

7. Groom’s uncles and aunts gave 2 weeks in Tahiti as honeymoon to the couple.

8. Bride had 3 designer gowns she kept changing throughout the night.

9. Yo-yo Ma the cellist for ceremony music.

10. They had a gift giveaway during reception. The winner received a brand new luxury car. (Hyundai but in Korea, they also make very high end cars)

11. K-pop bands performed during reception. (In Korea)

12. Jackie Chan making balloon animals! He was actually a guest and entertained the kids for a little bit. The balloon animals sucked but he was such a cool guy.

That’s all I can think of right now.

I feel so posh now knowing I had wedding llamas at my second wedding.  (They were really just my in laws llamas).   But I think it still counts!
