For fun: most over the top thing you’ve seen at a wedding?

I wasn’t a guest at this wedding but a few of my friends were. The couple arrived on a horse drawn carriage and they had fireworks. I thought that was OTT. But apparently one of these friends did the same thing re fireworks. Maybe it’s just a thing now? Lol… definitely not for me though!

1- Family marching into the church with procession while waving their home country flags. It was pretty horrible as the groom was from another country.

2- Grooms parents hired a flute player for the reception, yes he played it beautifully but after 4 hours of him coming round the tables and playing the flute in your face it got annoying FAST lol.

I thought of another, there was nothing especially OTT about the wedding just the fact that it was a wedding was the OTT part.

My friend was dating this guy who invited her to be her date to a wedding. He was friends with these two guys who were fairly notorious for their amazing parties, not like really great house parties, this is their job hosting huge warehouse races and planning special events for clubs, and apparently they are having a wedding. So she goes, and there is a ceremony with the two guys saying their vows and a cocktail hour and a 4 course meal. Then the booze comes out, lots of it and it turns into a big dance party.

See, they weren’t actually getting married. It was just a wedding themed party. They spent like $30,000 to have this beautiful wedding in which no one gets married. It is a hilarious story.

cindy419 :  sad to see people still exploiting and promoting places that keep these magnificent creatures in little bath tubs and starve them to make them do tricks. This is a living breathing animal that should be roaming the ocean, not doing human biddings for your entertainment. So cruel 🙁

Now I’m having second thoughts…. Our venue offers a fun bouncy castle and fireworks for a really reasonable price (£250 each or so)  so we were thinking of having those… But I don’t want our guests to roll their eyes and thinks we’re too OTT! Thoughts?

wealtheow :  woah so they weren’t getting married to each other? What were the vows?  Like friendship vows?

Friend of a friend went to a wedding were Kevin Costner was the wedding band. Yeah I know I guess he sings? Also they had mini ice sculptures at each place setting!

Most extra thing I’ve seen is the bride and groom arrived in a helicopter on the hotel roof and the whole thing was live streamed in the hall so guests could see…

jellybellynelly :  oh gosh! I am getting married in a nature reserve on an island which is overrun by wild peacocks! Were the aforesaid peacocks brought in for effect at the wedding you went to, or do wild count as ‘extra’? If I ask for the wild peacocks to be removed is that more extra than the roaming peacocks? (Now I’m stressing about peacocks! Bloody peacocks! 😂) or do you think they would let me swap them for llamas? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
