sweetiemermaid :  Honestly I can’t stand that show. Even as a teenager watching it, to me it seemed like a bunch of women acting like they liked being single but secretly wanting to get married. And they would act like they were only looking for casual relationships and then wonder why it didn’t get serious. It just aggravates me lol.

I will say I like the close girlfriend side of things they portray. I like the idea of girlfriends being someone to lean on and being your “soulmates”.

I know for so many reasons I should hate it, but I watched that show when I was in my late teens/early 20s and for some reason I just LOVED Big and Carrie together.  Where i am in my life now, I realize what a toxic relationship it was…but when I was 19 years old, for some reason it was like they were drawn to each other.

and I loved the first movie.  That moment when she sees him on the street when he is trying to drive back and hits him with her flowers….CROCODILE TEARS.  I just felt her pain.

Sure, Carrie is completely insufferable for almost all of the series and in the movies, but i just can’t help but love it.

Samantha and Smith’s relationship was my favorite.

sweetiemermaid :  so. many. tears.

I pretty much cried through the entire movie.

The second movie was dumb.

Love it. 🙂 I know that show has many problems and isn’t aging well, but I watched it in my early twenties and it holds a special place in my heart!

As for the Miranda fight, I took it more as she was upset Miranda hid that from her for so long. I don’t think she necessarily blamed Miranda for Big leaving, but she blamed her for not telling her what happened that night.

CloverBells :  Yes.  I agree with your assessment.

And for all of those months Carrie was trying to figure out what she did wrong.  If Miranda had told her sooner, she could have understood what have happened and not blamed herself.

Love the show, didn’t like the movie, hate that Carrie ended up with Big after everything. He treated her like crap, they made her so pathetic.

Totally love the show, the movies were awful but at that point I didn’t even really care! It’s a guilty pleasure sort of thing. 🙂 The first one was better than the second, but I was actually moving to Abu Dhabi right after that movie came out so I was so psyched to see it…and then I found out it wasn’t filmed in the UAE. Oh well.

Carrie and Big together is just PUKE in my opinion. The dude strung her along for YEARS, attempted to abandon her on their wedding day (though he didn’t quite go through with it and they could have totally just arrived late) and then they end up together anyway? ICK.

I was a casual watcher of the show. I liked the first moviecwell enough and I lived the ending. Her look for city hall and family style casual reception is exactly what I’d do if I got married again.

That show has so many issues I don’t know where to begin. From Big who almost assaults Carrie in the elevator (she keeps saying no but he doesn’t let go) to Aidan who puts a 24 hour ultimatum to get married (in vegas, without any of her friends and family,  basically his way or the highway) and then announces in a letter that she’s going to be kicked out if she doesn’t pay him in 40 days because he so generously bought her apartment (come on, there are other ways to settle this with someone you were in love with 5 minutes ago). I’m pretty sure Aidan also hit carrie at some point and brushed it off. And that russian guy also raised his hand on her (I don’t care if it’s accidental, that’s 3 guys in a row).

Then we get Charlotte who divorces her husband because they can’t conceive and she acts like she is entitled to have a child on her terms without ever caring for his feelings. She then converts to a religion without believing in any of it and for what? The harry wants to watch a game on tv during her first prayer/ceremony so clearly he’s not THAT religious.

It is heavily implied that miranda shouldn’t get an abortion if steve wants to keep the baby which drives me nuts.

And samantha, well actually she’s probably the only character that isn’t a complete mess. She has a crazy lifestyle but she’s not trying to pass as someone she’s not and she’s always there for people.

There were some fun parts to this show (and films). The fashion, the nyc atmosphere… but those relationships are sick and I doubt this show would do well in 2019.

ETA: sorry I realized you were only talking about the movie. I guess my response remains the same since it’s a continuation of the show. Big was abusive on so many levels and they ending up together is wrong.
