dreamr12: Thank you! The first one is either essence of australia or a stella york. I showed her an Essence picture which I cannot pull up. It just had no structure so I felt really exposed. Just like I did in this dress which was also gorg! http://enzoani.com/view-collection/blue/current-collection/hollywood
The one I bought is Maggie Sottero – Donna. Its to small here but is finally in so cant wait to try it – although now it will be too big 🙂

KitSnicket: the first dress you tried on is my dress! 🙂

What a fun thread! My dress hunt was a journey! The search began at David’s Bridal and I loved the poofy A-line strapless gowns with sequined belts:
Then I considered making my own blush wedding dress…
Then I fell in love with the Vera Wang Esther but it was 10 figures…
I tried to force myself to like a bunch of others…
This one was very Charlotte York Goldenblatt…
I even went to Kleinfelds in New York…
But it wasn’t until I tried on this silk faille Oscar de la Renta that I fell in love. Behold, the one!

Don’t ask me how I knew, but for some reason I knew I was gonna be an Alfred Angelo bride, so both are from AA
The first one I tried on was the Cinderella. It was the one I was most looking forward to and I REALLY really loved it, still have a twinge of dress regret looking at it, but my god it was soooooo so much dress
aaand the one I bought! I still think it looks like Cinderella, but maybe a little sexier, and the price was much better. I think I’m gonna make a silk tulle overskirt with a train for the ceremony and take it off for the reception so I get more of the first dress look

KitSnicket: OMG! When I originally read the title of this post I thought you meant our “first” boyfriend and the man who we consider the “one.” LOL. I was gonna say…I don’t have any photos of my first boyfriend anymore!!! Hahahah!
I swear I’m not blonde…

The very first one I tried on was the one I knew I wanted. I tried on others to “be sure” and just ended up with this face everytime:

RiloKilee: Beautiful dresses. What designer/dress is in your second pic? Thanks.

Soph45: It is an Allure. The shop where I got it lists it as AL58 but I’m pretty sure that is not the actual style number.

The first one my mom and moh loved, but I felt swallowed in:

The very first dress I tried was Penelope. Loved it the moment it was on, but for many reasons didn’t end up with this one. Tbh I thought about this dress pretty much up until the wedding.
The same day I bought this horrid dress from db. I think I was just overwhelmed and confused, and tried to make something out of this dress that it wasn’t. I wanted to love the details (accordion pleated skirt, flower appliqués, interesting neckline) but as soon as I said yes I knew I made a mistake
My mom and I when I bought it
When I picked it up…. Don’t I just look thrilled?!? Haha!
Thankfully db has a nice exchange policy!! So the same day I picked up the horrid dress, I exchanged it for this lil lovely!
Up until my wedding day I was still thinking about penelope. But once my dress was on, I knew I made the right choice!

The 1st two I tried on. I LOVE the one on the left!! I even went back & tried it on a 2nd time AFTER I already bought the “one”. Which I’m glad I did so I wouldn’t have any regrets!! The material was cheap & plasticy feeling. The one on the right had to much bling. The “one” had just the right amount. I am going to have it altered to be a sweetheart neckline. Then it will be PERFECT!!

My first dress happened to be my runner up! There was another dress that was a similar shape but strapless and had sequins over it that I really loved too, but in the end the pink dress won! I cant wait to see it when it actually fits.
Here is a photo of the back on someone else:

So the fit and flare was my 1st dress, that I actually put most of the deposit on. After looking at the pictures over and over again, I knew it wasnt the one. Went back for the 2nd appointment and tried on my dream dress, the ball gown. My salon was super awesome about me switching my dress.

Splodge2003: You couldn’t have gone wrong with either dress. I love that you went with color! Unique & beautiful. Can I ask the name and designer of the runner up dress?
