I’m really short, under 5’2 and I was in the elevator with this guy that works as a courier.

Guy: wow you’re really short. Your husband must really love you.

Me: *confused look* huh?!

Guy: yea you look fun.

Me: *runs out elevator*

My children have quite tan complexions and curly hair even though we are super white parents. Several times I’ve had strangers some up and ask if my kids are “mixed” which I think is an odd thing to ask someone. Usually I just say no and move along. But once when I replied “No”, the woman said “Are you sure?”. I was like, “I think I know who my children’s father is, are you suggesting I slept with a man of a different ethnicity and forgot about it?”

I love this thread!

I’m sure I have more interesting stories but the only one that I can think of is…I was working retail forever ago and a woman and her adutl son came up to me and said I looked like some random obsure actress. The picture they showed me of her on her phone was a girl with bleach blonde hair, blue eyes, and pale skin. I have almost black hair, brown eyes, and a dark olive complexion.

eeniebeans :  ugh that would piss me off. When I was in middle school a group of girls that were all different ethnicities asked me all the time if I was biracial. They did not believe me and said my mom was lying to me about my father because “white girls don’t have curly fizzy hair, big ligs, and dark complexion”.

cmsgirl :  I was walking a patient down the hall when he asked if I was from Tennessee. I kind of laughed (wondering if I had an accent or something) and said “no, why?” He said “you walk like you’re from Tennessee.” Whatever in the world that means lol.

I have an olive skin tone and pretty curly dark hair. I’ve had plenty of people question my ethnicity before but once I was in the drive thru at a Dunkin and the guy at the window complimented my hair and asked me what I was. As in “nice hair, what are you”? I don’t mind the question but it was just oddly phrased.

Once when l was much much younger a guy tried it hit on me at a bus stop. When l rejected his offer, he stepped back and said in ringing tones ‘sorry love, can’t afford that, better luck next punter”

Leaving me wth several disapproving sour faced  commuters….
