I don’t really like when people start complaining about their jobs or how much they hate it or how much their boss sucks blah blah blah. I pretend to care because I am a polite person but deep inside I always think:” You either have to quit and find a better job or stop whining”.

@MrsPanda99:  work fundraisers. No lie, we have about 6 different things going on right now from cancer to local middle school programs to Parkinsons… every day I get 6 or 7 emails, someone coming to my desk with an envelope asking for donations, or selling candy to raise money for ____Awareness. I wish my office was like where my husband works– they get ONE month out of the year to promote their cause, and you can set up a fund to pay for that cause directly out of your paycheck, no desk-to-desk smalltalk and pressure. It is only Monday and I already gave $10 for something, bought a Twix and Sour Patch kids and am bringing something to a potluck…. because I am a giant pushover and it must be written on my face.

@MrsPanda99:  I’m with you, it’s kids. I pretend to care but inside I’m going “Ugh just shut uuuuup already!” I don’t mind kids, I just hate hearing every single thing about them for 20+ minutes. Annoying.

@SnoopDog:  I agree! I work in healthcare and much of the time OR staff will complain about the politics of the hospital, call schedules, other staff, etc. I politely listen and pretend to care, but since I’m contract and work for a completely different company I could care less. I don’t say anything because it’s not worth it. I’m happy and love my job. It gets tiring listening to people moan and bitch all the time.

Sometimes I hope it won’t become evident that I have no idea what the TV show is that people are talking about.

e.g., Breaking Bad. I don’t know what that is, except that it was “awesome” and something recently occurred in it (season ending, show ending) that was very exciting to people.

I don’t want to know what it is, I just don’t want to be harrassed for not knowing, lol. So I stay quiet about it, hoping my lack of saying anything about it is not noticed.

By The Way I do watch a few TV series (no cable, but we get a whole season and watch them one episode at a time), but nobody I know wants to talk about reality shows about miners in the Arctic. Except Fiance, lol.

One of my coworkers likes to go into great detail about either her or her husbands various health issues.  I want them to be alright but I don’t need to know all the gory and disgusting details.

@MrsPanda99: Cesar Milan (seriously). I have a dear friend that I go out for lunch with once a week, and no matter what we’re talking about, it gets turned into a conversation about how Cesar Milan is a genius and how any dog can be trained to be good. And how dogs should behave in leash-free parks. Pretty much anything that has to do with dog training. I don’t even have a dog!

Once we get on this subject, she can’t get off of it. No matter how much I try to redirect the conversation. I just smile and nod becuase it’s something she cares deeply about, so I usually just roll with it.

Oh gosh, what DO I care about…

1. Your kids. Sorry – don’t care. Maybe when I’m a mom, but I’m not.

2. Your vacation. Please don’t show me photos. Mentally, I’m balancing my cheque book.

and my personal fave….

3. What you think I should be doing/including/wearing/saying/dancing to at my wedding! Go plan your own wedding!

Mmm.. that was cathartic ๐Ÿ™‚

Politics. I know I NEED to care because the decisions that a few elected people make can impact me directly,  but sometimes I just dont care.

@joya_aspera:  I’m with you on the shows. Never seen Breaking Bad or any of the other very popular shows.

@mgol25:  My mom goes on about Cake Boss. I’ve started calling him my other brother.
