When my baby was very young, I carried diapers, wipes (you’ll often get a light, plastic wipe carrier if you buy a big box of wipes, and I just used that for the wipes), butt cream, two changes of clothes, hand sanitizer, burp cloths, bottle, and a waterproof changing pad.  Depending on the season, I might throw in socks, hat, etc., and then I’d always include a favorite toy or two.  I carried all of this only when we went out for an extended period of time.  It started driving me nuts to carry so much stuff, so for short trips I started grabbing just the diaper stuff and a burp cloth.  Yeah, I played the odds and lost on that a few times.

Now that the babe is a toddler, I’m down to one change of clothes, but now I’m bringing food, toys, sippy cups and a million other things.  For short trips to the store or something, I don’t bring anything but a sippy.  Yep, I’ve gotten pretty lazy.

I got a Vera Bradley one. I haven’t had my baby yet though so I don’t know how much I will or won’t like it functionally, but they are popular with my friends who have plenty of money to get something else if they don’t like them, so I’m guessing it’ll be just fine.

For me, my musts are that it be washable and that there be water resistant/proof pockets.

When my son was an infant I carried diapers, wipes, creams, toy, bib, receiving blanket, extra onesie, soother, bottle.

Now that he is 1, its diapers, wipes, snack and sippy cup and his blankey. There are now always toys in the car.

baby is two weeks old; i don’t have a “diaper bag”. I just use my purse. Two or three diapers, blanket (works as a change pad, nursing cover and blanket), package of wipes, change of clothes (often just a onesie) and then my regular purse stuff. I think I might add hand sanitizer very shortly. 🙂
