My husband and I have a duffle bag full of emergency food and supplies- flashlights, MRE’s, non-perishable food, candles, lighters, Sterno cans, etc. We have a tag on it that says “For Zombies,” but I suppose it would come in handy for non-Zombie disasters as well.
We’re pretty sure our neighborhood would do a decent job of holding down the fort for a while- we live in a military town in the south, so pretty much all of our neighbors have at least one gun if not a small arsenal. We would probably try to stay here for a little while, because every other psycho would probably be trying to get to base (which is fenced off but also an enormously huge area and people would probably be killing each other for weapons and ammo, not to mention all the zombies that would probably be there already).
After that, if we can get access to a boat then we’d probably just hit the ocean. If that wasn’t possible, Darling Husband wants to find a house on a hill with upstairs balconies to snipe Zombies from, and then dig a moat around the house to trap them in.
So? Do you have a plan?

@Miss Fish: Ha, ha, ha Fiance and I discuss this all the time, especially when it’s Walking Dead season. I think we both know we won’t last very long, but we’ll be together til the end and he insists he won’t be able to “kill” me if I turn into a zombie. So I’ll probably eat him. lol

I have no plan, prob the first to die… or become a zombie.. lol

My FH has a “Bug Out Bag” as well. We joke about a zombie apocalypse all the time. While I don’t think zombies will be invading the US any time soon, I am glad FH has done a little prepping in case something does happen.

I’d just kill myself. I’m not even joking.
Just watching apocalypse movies and shows is exhausting. I dont have the will power/will to survive for all that.

@Miss Fish: We live in Downeast Maine, and my family has a camp way out in the middle of nowwhere, so I’m pretty sure we would retreat there! I think there are tons of parts of Maine that would survive a Zombie Apocalypse!

Fiance always tells me “horses never run out of gas, and swords never run out of bullets” and that I should learn to use both in case of apocolypse.
We do have emergency rations, and lots of weapons close by though as well

My husband and I would probably be screwed. We joke that we’d get ourselves an arsenal of weapons, first aid, and food items, but we have nothing of the sort. I think we would probably bug-out to his parents house in the middle of nowhere. They have a fresh source of water, plenty of land, and can live off of the grid for a while. His relatives are also hunters and would be able to feed everyone and defend the property for a while.

We have BOB’s and GHBs , we have guns and we train on the a lot , a place in the Ozarks, and because we’ve been two weeks without power before (snow storm) we have a months worth of something similar to MREs and backup mobile power supplies. Tornadoes have taken my town down before and I grew up during the cold war next to stratcom, so being prepared with plans and contingencies is just something I grew up with.

@Miss Fish: I love this post! In the event of a zombie apocalypse we honestly might be goners. We have an emergency kit with flash lights and medicine, and what not, but we’ve only got 1 gun in the house. So the zombies might get us. Our neighbors are pretty tough and we all look out for eachother, so we’d try to bunker down here for a while. At least until some of the mass hysteria died down on the highways. After that we’d try to make our way to a boat, and find a small island that had little to no human population to begin with. If need be, we’d try to pluck off the native zombies, and then live the island life.
@jadlnc: LOL. SO and I were watching season 3 of walking dead on netflix last night. When we got to the episode where Rick runs into Morgan again, and he starts telling Rick about how he couldn’t kill his Zombie wife, and then the wife ate his son, my SO paused the episode. He then turned to me and said “you have to promise me, you’d kill me if I ever turn into a Zombie”. What a wierdo!

@lollygagon: hubs made me a “TKS sized katana” (that’s what he calls it). It would do the trick, it’s Sharp as hell.

I would pray and grab my bags full of food, flashlights etc. lol

As often as I think about something like that happening, I don’t think I would fare very well.
When I am at work, I think about places to hide if something like that were to happen. We have a repository and I am fairly certain nothing would be able to get inside. I’d hide out there.
You know, I honestly don’t think I would want to live in a zombie apocalypse world. As fun as it would be to just smash people with your car like in Zombieland, I don’t think I would live very long!

I’d kill myself. If it was actually a zombie apocalypse, I don’t want to live fearing for my life all the time and without the proper comforts that I’m used to now. Wouldn’t be anywhere near worth it for me to stick around.
