Yay! What an adorable picture!

Actually there are also studies out there that show babies and children who have a dog in the home are HEALTHIER than those who don’t. They’re sick and upset less!

I’ll always have a dog so I know I want to make it work when it comes time for kids! I want my kids to have a dog for sure – I loved growing up with them.

Great picture! I do worry about how my dog will react to children of our own. He doesn’t really like kids now…that being said he doesn’t attack them or is afraid of him, but he just ignores them and will just walk away. I’m amazed even when a kid was literally hitting him in the face (I was right there and trying to grab them by the shoulder to stop) he just looked away and stared at me saying “OMG HELP!”

That’s a cute picture!

Dogs are pack animals, and since being domesticated, we, their owners, are their pack. Generally, they take on the baby as one of their pack members and protect them like one of their own pups. 🙂

My Darling Husband keeps saying he hopes our pup bonds with the baby, she will be almost 2 when the baby is born and she has been amazing with kids since she was brand new to our home. He hopes the dog choses to sleep on the floor in the nursery and warn us if something is up with the baby (like you often hear about on tv). Right now she sleeps on the floor of our bedroom, not sure if that would change.

@Quietserenity:  Gorgeous photo!!

@MrsSawyer:  The dog I grew up with did that! She was almost two when I was born and whenever I cried or fussed she would go and get my mom! She treated me like one of her own until the day she died. Even old and arthritic she had to check on me and my siblings while we were sitting in the family room each, before lying down herself. Such a sweet dog! I hope your dog does the same!

@kayberry:  That’s so reassuring to hear! She already warns us if the oven timer is going off and we are not checking on it fast enough so I think she has that alert instinct at least :).

@MrsSawyer:  That’s so sweet, I definitely think she’ll do the same with baby! Especially since you said she loves kids – they’ll bond definitely. She’ll treat them like her pups!

I love it!

I’m with you. I have two dogs and they just love the baby. Dirty Delete is only 5 weeks and now reaches her hand out when she sees the dogs and they kiss her. Our only issue is they love her so much and have been known to give her kisses when she’s sleeping if she fell asleep in something like the bouncy seat.
