My husband and I are going to be trying very soon, and as I have friends and family who have had infertility problems, I worry about having them myself. I hate thinking of all the ladies out there trying so hard and getting those BFNs, so I wanted to throw out some info I’ve learned in case it might help even one person get that elusive BFP!
Although temp charting is good, it often can’t diagnose underlying problems like progesterone deficiencies, limited mucous cycles, PCOS, etc. Nor do most doctors do much more than clomid, or recommend IVF. However, some charting can diagnose this stuff and some doctors do have other options. If anyone’s interested, I’d highly recommend checking out the Creighton Model charting (fertilitycare.org) and the Napro Technology (infertility treatment based on creighton charting http://www.naprotechnology.com/infertility.htm) that goes along with it. Although it may be hard to find a practitioner as there aren’t a ton out there yet, it’s totally worth it. The success rates are ridiculously high. And no, it’s not hokey or weird, it is science based. The website has a link to the references 😉 My dad is a family doctor and took the course to get certified several years ago which is how I got started using it. Even the basic doctor practicitioner course takes a couple years, so it’s pretty comprehensive.
Anyway, I wanted to toss the idea out there as it’s helped friends of mine with major fertility issues, and it’s helped me identify potential problems that I can get checked on/solved BEFORE seriously ttc…figured I’d share and if even one person gets that BFP it’d be worth it! Feel free to PM with questions as I know several docs and teachers I can put ppl in contact with for more info.
