Can you use the Diva Cup with it?

@armychica06:  I’ve done some research about the Diva cup and the IUD, for after I give birth, but I’ve read the suction from the cup can dislodge the IUD

@armychica06:  There’s actually been a recent study that suggests there’s no increased risk of IUDs coming out with menstrual cup use, though I don’t have the link handy. I just got Paragard and was told I should be fine continuing to use my cup. Also, see here on that community for people’s experiences: http://iud-divas.livejournal.com/tag/iuds%20and%20menstrual%20cups

@TankGirl: Let me know how Paragard goes! I can’t do hormonal and considered it, but I’d heard terrible things about not only insertion but issues with periods (being longer, heavier, having spotting, etc) so I’d like to see how someone does on it…

PS I love Tank Girl.

@imageeksowhat:  Sure, I’ll let you know! I literally got it inserted three days ago, during the tail end of my cycle, so I don’t yet know how my period will be with it. So far, insertion sucked big time but was not life alteringly bad or anything, and I’ve been mildly crampy since then and spotting a bit, I guess as my body adjusts to this foreign object. I’m not good with hormonal either, Nuvaring seriously messed up my mood levels, so I wasn’t at all interested in Mirena.

And thanks! Laughing Me too, obviously!

@TankGirl:  Thanks! Yeah, I have severe migraines and everytime I try hormonal I get very dizzy and get cluster migraines (meaning all day migraines) they suck.

@imageeksowhat:  Ooh, that sucks hardcore. Well, my initial verdict on Paragard is positive- after a week and a half, I’ve stopped spotting and only occasionally have a bit of a cramp. The strings that hang down from it initially seemed weird and stiff, but they’ve softened up quick and curled up innocuously around my cervix. I’m still a little tender, but I think a lot of that is psychological. I’ll see how the first period on it is in a couple of weeks!
