I didn’t change my last name to my middle.. but I kept my last name and tacked his onto the end.. no hyphen. Nobody thinks it’s weird… but then, it doesn’t really come up in conversation. I can sign my name the old way or with the new last name or with both and all “work” for when I’m signing documents, receipts, etc.. so I’m glad I did it this way:)  The guy at the bank told me it’s not uncommon at all.  It’s actually quite common now.

I am going to do this as well. I love my middle names (I have three), but I’d rather keep my maiden name without hyphenating.

I grew up thinking that was the only way to do it, because my mom and everyone in my family did it that way. It was only when I started thinking about it for myself that I learned that women actually do it all sorts of ways.

So OP, no, I don’t think it’s weird! You can pretty much literally do anything you want.

I haven’t gotten strange looks, but I have had people write my name with a hyphen. I guess people assume that it’s that way if you keep your last name somewhere. LOL

I dropped my middle name and am now Firstname Maidenname Lastname (no hyphens).  This is very common in my circle.
