Were you okay to apply it and weren’t too nervous? I don’t really have anyone to do my makeup as it is a little podunk town, but I am afraid that I will be a bundle of nerves on that day, so I was just curious about if you diy makeup for the big day, how you were able to get past nerves…

I practised a ton. It didn’t even occur to me to be nervous. I did get eyeliner all over one eyelid, but I just removed the makeup and started again. Just be calm and give yourself plenty of time!

I did my own makeup. Great advice up above me! Make sure you have plenty of time!! I practiced a few times before just to experiment with different eye shadow colors…
You’ll do great!!! Sometimes I think it is best to do your own make up… it insures that you will look like you!! 🙂

I’ll be doing my own makeup, too, and I definitely think giving yourself enough time is crucial. I think I’ll also be taking over the bathroom in my suite and kicking everyone else out while I’m doing my makeup – having an audience would just make me more nervous. That can be some private time while I’m getting ready.

I did my own makeup, but I went to Sephora twice for products and tutorials- the first time for eyes and the second when I decided a few weeks later to get a good concealer for under my eyes. Doing my own was super easy, but I didn’t use much. I mostly played up my eyes and kept the rest neutral since I’m a lipstick klutz!

I did my own as well and am glad I did. I practiced a ton with different eyes and lips to find the best results. I surprisingly wasn’t nervous, but I agree with giving yourself some extra time. It was well worth it!

I did mine and I wasn’t nervous at all. I mean, I do my makeup everyday by myself so I wasn’t more nervous doing that than I was taking a shower or eating breakfast on my wedding day.
My only advice is to practice until you can do it smoothly and easily. It’s not the end of the world if you make a mistake you can just wipe it off and do it again.

I did my own make up and didn’t have any issues.
If you’re doing something that you don’t normally do though I WOULD practice in the weeks leading up to the Big Day.
I always enjoy watching youtube videos for application b/c you can actually SEE how to do it as opposed to when you just see it in an article or magazine.
Give yourself plenty of time and don’t worry… noone will let you go out disasterous on your wedding day… believe me.. if you just totally failed SOMEONE would come fix it.

I always wear a heavy smokey eye on the weekend so for me it was just second nature and not really an issue. However, I did go into the bathroom and distanced myself from the chaos. It was a moment where I was able to just be alone and think about everything that was coming next.

Thanks for all the encouragement! I have been doing more to work on my makeup here in the last few months anyway, using products like primer and using more eye makeup than I normally do. I have been liking the way it looks. I don’t plan to do too much makeup as the wedding is at 2:30 pm and I don’t think I will need a lot.
What products did you like to use? I have some items, but I need some more for the big day and don’t want to spend a lot of money.

I am now in love with this mascara. I have never been brand loyal to a mascara until I tried this one and its available at pharmacies. There was a coupon in the paper a few weeks ago when I got it, you can probably find it online somewhere.
Maybelline Colossal Volum’ Mascara!!!

I really liked Estee Lauder Double Wear
It was creamy enough that I didn’t struggle to get a nice line, and I don’t usually do eye make-up, so I was nervous going into it. I practiced a lot! I also tried it with and w/o primer, and it doesn’t need a primer. So I saved a step there, and it lasted into the the next day. Great stuff.

I am doing my own makeup for the wedding. I did my own makeup for my e-pics and they turned out great. As long as you do a couple of practive rounds, keep track of how long it takes you to do your makeup, and leave yourself enough time, there should be no reason to feel nervous. I plan on giving myself 1 1/2 hours for makeup. I will probably need no more than 45 minutes. I also plan on creating a fun ipod mix to get ready with to help keep my mind off of things

Oh, also, if you want tutorial videos, I’d check out makeupgeek.com – she does a great job showing and explaining how to do a lot of different looks.
