I have mine since it is a sample and will have it for about 1.5 years!  I will not try it on because it has a corset back and also because I don’t want to get it dirty.  I plan on shipping it to my mom’s since she has a lot more space to store anyway.

Also I wanted to add for brides storing for a long period of time, I read on MarthaStewartWeddings that you should store in an acid-free box with acid-free tissue paper if storing for longer than 6 mos…

I had mine for 2 years!  I tried it on two times…just to make sure it was zipping…the seamstress was really impressed that I kept the same body weight for that long.

I’ve had mine for a good 7 months or so, but I left it at my mom’s house for a long time so I wouldn’t be tempted and then get cat hair all over it. Now that it’s been altered, etc it is in my closet and I sneak a peek every once in a while to say hi. It also helps cheer me up if im in a bad mood.

i had mine for 6 months and i never tried it on because it would get sooo dirty. I would never risk getting deodorant, dirt, oily finger prints, makeup, hair product, lotion, or ANYTHING else like that. So just remember thats the risk you take everytime you haul it out!

IT was kept at the tailor up until 2 weeks before the wedding. But I didnt try it on because it was at my moms house. However, now that my wedding is over I have plans to put it on again. Maybe for a TTD shoot who knows but Darling Husband and I talked about how I can just wear it around the house one day if Im feeling nostalgic! Haha that would be a sight!

I have had mine on twice;  once when it first arrived (bought it on ebay) and again when I got my sash and to try on with the shoes I thought I was going to wear, and a veil I bought… that was this week.   I am rather thankful that it’s a pain in the butt to try it on, otherwise I’d be doing it all the time and risking dirt and such.  But as it is, I have to get Fiance to leave the room, then kick the dog out because she’s a big klutzy labe who would totally step all over it, then make sure there’s no cat hair about, then put down a clean sheet just in case (on the floor) for cat hair reasons,  then shoo the kitten away so he doesn’t try and play with anything dangling (like the sash), then get one of the kids to help me zip it (plus make sure THEY don’t step on the train).. ugh.

It’s a lot of work to do all that then get it properly back on the hanger and in the bag and up on the top shelf of the closet.  I have it in the bridal gown bag in a box and up HIGH to keep the cats away.  So it’s a 30 minute ordeal just to try it on!

I’ll be taking it out soon to try on a crinoline and to take it to a seamstress… I think once I get my preliminary alterations done (bustle and sweetheart neckline) I am taking it to a friends to store instead.   She has cats and a kid too but she has a HUGE house with lots of unused closets so I’ll feel safer about it there.

Only once. I bought shoes and wanted to see how it looked. But honestly, the dress was just too hard to get on by myself so I never tried it again. Now it’s living at the seamstress’ house until the wedding.

Got my dress Dec. 2008 and wore it on my wedding day May 15, 2010. I tried it on 3 times in those 17 months. Once when it first came in the mail another a few months before the wedding to check size and once for the bustle.
