    I do both, there are months when going to the salon doesn’t fit in the budget so I just do it at home.  I do prefer the look of when my stylist does it, he is a color expert so it always looks WAY better.

    Salon. I would never trust myself to do my hair!

    I’ve always had mine done professionally in a salon. Although I’m sure there are women who know what they’re doing and are able to do their own color well, I’ve also seen and heard about some very poor results when people have tried to do their own color. One of my best friends is a prominent hair and make up artist who owns a salon, and he said that what often leads to negative results is that people will simply look at the shade on a box of hair color and assume that their hair will turn out to be the color shown on the box.  However, since hair color is all about chemistry, customers need to take into consideration the type, condition and color of the hair to which they are applying the color they want to purchase.

    For all over color I do it myself but anything that involves foils (like highlights/lowlights/color streaking  I go to the pros.

    I am a salon girl all the way. I used to dye my hair myself all the time but for the last three years I’ve only gone to the slaon and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to box dye. It always comes out the color I want and I feel like is just better on my hair.

    I go to the Living Room Salon and Spa. It’s really luxurious, there are even bath towels to sit on so you don’t ruin the carpet with red hair dye! It’s fabulous until a cat tries to get involved… Haha!

    I do it myself. 😉 All over colour. I use Feria’s Power Red R68, you do NOT want to get that stuff on the carpet.

    I’m a DIY girl. I do prefer the way it looks when I get it colored at the salon, but I’m usually too broke to get it professionally done.

    Salon.  I tried to do my own out of a box once and it turned out horrid….like orange-y.  Never again!

    I usually do it myself but recently my hair has gotten so long that I try and have my sister do it for me. I actually went to the salon back in November to get it colored for the first time in eons! Salon color is so much better for your hair than boxed color – if you do it yourself try and go to sally’s and mix your own color.

    I was professional until I made the leap this past year. 😛 Most due to finances but I realized I didn’t have to let myself go entirely to save money.

     I do a L’oreal superior preference and only change my hair color slightly to get it to a deeper warmer shade of blonde.

    So far so good!

    Professional is nice but when I found I could lowlight my hair with this myself and get almost hte same results… I wasn’t spending 75+ every few months like I used to.

    Salon for sure! I used to do it myself but I think the results are so superior when my stylist does it! In fact, I just had my roots touched up last week.

    My hair is naturally light brown so I can go either blonde or dark brown (at least that’s what people have told me!) When I feel like being blonde I go to the salon for highlights every 3-5 months. It’s super expensive tho but I like the look better. I’ve tried at home highlights and they seemed to work OK. When I feel the need to switch it up and go brunette, I just dye it at home with a semi-permanent. Don’t remember the brand but I always recognize the girl on the box! I think it’s either Clarol or L’oreal!

    @Aure: Haha!! SAME HERE!

    I have a family member do mine who has been doing it for over 10 years. I did get mine colored and highlighted a few years ago to treat myself and it was over $200!! Yeah, I think I will stick to the $8.99 box!
