Breast milk can take as little as 90 minutes to be processed so they usually say 1.5 hours is the minimum you should be feeding. DS fed every 2-3 hoursand a newborn then by 6 months every 4 hours. I had a quick let down and a great milk supply so feeding would be quick and easy for both of us.

Right now she varies daily… I’ve been trying to push it to every 2.5 – 3 hrs per her pedi b/c I have overactive letdown & oversupply so eating often usually just causes her to vomit. Some days it works some days she just WANTS THE BOOB! She’s 4wks today =)

@StormyRose:  every two hours, at 6 months old???

I couldn’t answer your poll because it changed as he got older -every 2-3 hours aroudn the clock the first month or so.  Every 3 hours during the day (so 4 total feedings) by 6 months.  We whittled down night time feedings between 2-4 months or so.

Once he was solidly on solids then it was 3 times a day.

Every 2-3 hours, sometimes 4, and occasionally when she’s in a growth spurt, a few times 1.5 hours apart.

When she was a newborn, it was around every two hours, I think. It gradually let up, and by six months, we started feeding her cereal [mixed with a little milk I pumped]. She just wasn’t filling up on milk alone, so we had to move on. By one year she was down to one night time feeding [to put her to sleep, not really nursing much]. I stopped nursing right after she turned one. Man you would think I would remember all those details; it was just three years ago, but I really don’t remember the specifics.

Liam is almost 5 months and eats every 2.5-3 hours. At night he gets a good 6 hour stretch then back to every 3 hours. Pedi said to go ahead and start him on solids, but I’m still on the fence about it.

i breastfed my daughter until she was ten months, and she went through fazes when she was a newborn it was generally every 1.5-2hours but she went through a faze when she was poorly of drinking every 45mins thats was tiring to say the least lol. once she was onto solids it was about three to four times a day, sleeping all through the night after a 9oclock bottle x

My little boy fed every 1.5-2 and now at 8 months is just starting to stretch it out to every 3 hours (sometimes).

It’s important to remember every woman’s breast’s stores/makes differing amounts of milk

It changes! Hourly when he was a newborn, but then every 2-3 hours until 6 or 7 months. Once we really got going on solids, it was more like every 4-5 hours.
