i just watched a documentry on netflix that has me all for a natural birth. with my health issues im sure that i wont be able to do it at home, but i am going to a midwife, in a birthing center, no med….just very calm and relaxing.
with DS i had a hospital birth (i was 19 ) 27 hours of labor, epidural…didnt remember much of it besides that fact that it hurt. he was 8lbs 14oz…and i tore…..BADLY. so no more hospitals, i cant go through that again.

Unfortunately, we’ve been through that scenario and it didn’t end that way for us. I can’t really complain though! Having a pg scare is what made DH realize that maybe he’s not NOT ready to be a daddy (does that make sense) and agree to move TTC date up to next summer instead of 2015 which was our original plan. 10 months to go! Maybe 9 if I can convince him for July instead of August 😉
ETA: I definitely want to avoid going to the hospital if at all possible. I’d be down with a home-birth, but agreed with DH that for our first baby we’d stick with a midwife at a birthing center. I love the thought of a water birth, though, as I am always most calm when I am taking a bath– it is my happy place.

eeek!!! yea… i hear water births reduce tearing 🙂
ahhh makes total sense!! thats not too far away anyways!
i agree… there is a birthing center about 40 minutes from where i live! and its only 3 mins from the hospital… just in case 🙂

Thats pretty much what happened with us too! We had a pregnancy “scare” which made us both a little sad when the test was negative. So we will be NTNT in Feb. when I get off BC and TTC by next summer!
I’m kinda scared about that too. I have health issues that aren’t particularly connected to fertility but I’m afraid they may have some impact. When I was 6-7 years old, my doctors found out that my colon was stretched out to the size of an adults and I had to have 3 surgeries in just over a year. I’m fine now that I take daily medicine, but I know when you’re pregnant things kinda “shift” around and that worries me :/ I suppose we’ll talk about that when I go to the doctor to discuss TTC.

We just got married two weeks ago. The day we got home from our honeymoon, our dog ate the last of my BCPs, so I guess he has made his thoughts known. As for my husband and I, I am mentally ready now but I think we need to finish our house renos first and my husband wants to wait until spring next year. So likely I will not go back on the pill and use other methods until spring, but it is a step in the right direction. Yay!

Oh I’m so excited to start trying! Im 29 and we’ve been together for over 11 years now…married since May 2011. We are going to start trying once the snow falls.
Thanks so much for recommending Taking Charge of your Fertility!

Fiance just gave me the go ahead that we can buy our first home next summer (2012)!!! So, that should help tame some of the baby fever for a while now that I’m on trulia.com. So, probably end of 2012 we will start (or early 2013).
Kroger has vitamins (prenatal and multi) buy one get one free. I got the Kroger brand prenatals to start taking after I run out of my Women’s one a day multi I’m currently taking. I’ve seen on some websites some Doctors reccommending starting to take prenatal vitamins up to 2yrs before ttc. So, I got the cheapie Kroger brand for now (they’re comparable to Stuart prenatals.)

I will absolutely second any recommendation for “Taking Charge of Your Fertility.” I’m not getting married until May, but we have already been together for 6 years and will have lived together as a couple for 3 once we are married. We want to try for a baby right away so I am no longer taking BC and I have started charting. The above mentioned book was a HUGE eye-opener when it comes to understanding your cycles and charting. I highly recommend it!!!

We are going to TTC next summer as well. Sounds like there is a lot of us! my doctor has me taking Folic Acid NOW because she said it is the only thing that has proven to help with stopping early labor as well as super healthy development. Taking it up to a year because is the best but she said at 6 months before TTC is ideal as well. So ladies start taking it now.
other than that i’m going to try to drop so more weight (which i’ve been doing anyways). But i havent changed a whole lot and dont plan on changing too much.

Can I bump this thread? How are you ladies doing? Does anybody else find that baby fever increases at certain times of year… Such as the holidays…? I keep thinking how awesome it would be to announce a pregnancy at Thanksgiving, or conceive a baby on Christmas Eve (tmi?)… And it doesn’t help that they put out those adorable infant footsie pajamas in Target. So freaking adorable. I swear. Anybody else?

On the 17th of January I’ll have surgery and remove the septate in my uterus if it is a septate (normal uterus with a wall) and not a bicornate (heart shaped). The IVF specialist said that we will have to wait 2 months and take hormone tablets to built up my uterus wall. Yesterday I started having pain on my low right side. I asked a nurse and she said it sounds like Endometriosis. 🙁
I want to start pole dancing (core strengthening) tomorrow, and I have continued to take the tablets……….. BUT I am starting to feel frustrated… Everything in my life is taking so long… My DH aunty told me tonight that she wishes us all the best and I am sure it will happen… This made me feel like she thought that things were bad in my life. I am alright, just frustrated.

((hugs)) Everything WILL be alright! Even the frustration! Hang in there 🙂

Well, our timeline got pushed so we are now talking about trying in September instead of Feb or March. I’m ok with it bc we’ll be in a better place financially.
What I’m not ok with are my stupid cycles since going off the pill. So far they’ve been 35, 46, 46, and a whopping 58 days. Wtf. I’m going to see my doctor about it soon! I’m worried I’m not ovulating.

Oh me!!! I love all the bees here and how we are all trying to keep the baby fever to a mimimum before we actually start TTC! It’s nice being able to talk about it with other people without getting crazy looks! 🙂 My hubby and were married June 2010 and hoping to start our TTC process late summer/fall this year. We are doing a big trip to Europe in September so i think that will be our first shot at TTC! I am super excited but have baby fever like you wouldn’t imagine!
I started taking prenatals Nov 2010 and have my yearly physical with my Dr in Feb and will be asking all the questions then. Not sure what those questions are, but at least give her the heads up and see if she recommends anything. Did you bees have any specific questions you asked your doctors before starting TTC?
YES! I thought of all the fun ways we could announce a pregnancy if it happened during Christmas, or Easter… so much fun! I have 2 friends who are expecting and every trip into a kids store/Babies R Us i have to seriously refrain from buying those adorable liittle newborn outfits….they are SO freaking cute!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks. It’s driving me nuts. I am 31 If it doesn’t happen this year, the chances that the baby might have problems increases after 32. I am pushing it close..
I had that idea that it would be nice telling everyone at Christmas. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. Would have been cool!
