@MrsMcGyro: I feel much better actually too! I was on BCP for 7 years and already after one cycle off them I feel less depressed.

@MrsCarnival:  I am hoping my libido comes back! It has been gone ever since I switched to Loestrin24 last year.  It would be especially helpful when TTC lol

@Mrs.JA:  My RE told me that I should plan to be off BC for 6 months before officially charting and TTC but that it is ok if I got PG sooner.  She said that after 6 months if not PG I can come for blood work and starting to chart and use OPKs

@Abree: My friend is currently pregnant and the one thing she said was take them early because she could not stomach the vitamins once she was pregnant and since they got pregnant their first month trying, she felt she could have used more vitamins.

I really like this thread, put off oopenign it for a few months as we are still waiting a bit longer than a year but then curiosity got the better of me and I really like the conversation. We made a plan at the beginning of Jan 2012 that there were some things we wanted to do before TTC. A big one for us is living together as our respective jobs are keeping us in a weekend relationship for the majority of this year, we both agree this is not the right time. Then we have some other issues like my career and our vacation planning. We agreed that there are two major trips that we would like to take before we have children, South Africa and New Zealand (possibly also with Australia). The latter has been designated or TTC trip as DH wants a 3 week adventure and I would love to get pregnant on the trip. So we have end of 2013, beginning of 2014 as our scheduled TTC time. Lately, I have had a strong desire to have children and started reading the baby boards which didn’t interest me before so I think waiting so long is going to be hard but useful all at the same time. Am I crazy for planning so far in advance? Anyone else looking at a 2014 baby? Since college, I decided 30 is the best time to think about babies and I will be 30/31 in 2014 so it fits right in with my plan.

We are going to NTNT right after our wedding and then if nothing happens TTC officially in the fall – so excited! I went to my ob/gyn for annual check up and she did all the bloodwork and just advised to take a womens multivitamin as she said that womens ones all have enough folic acid etc to prepare for pregnancy. So exciting and scary all at once!!

@Mrs Grape: I just realized what I wrote didn’t sound right.. What I meant was I know you had posted before that you weren’t planning on having children, so I’m really excited to see that now you are! What changed your mind? Here’s hoping it won’t be a difficult road for you!

@MissMusic:

It’s been awesome. There are days when he practically has to pry me off of him! Overall, I’m really happy to not be on any hormonal BC. I swear it makes me a different person.

@Mrs Grape: You confused me too! I thought I remembered you saying that you were planning on adopting, but it seems as though that has changed. I’m glad you’ve found what you want to do! Would it be nosy of me to ask what changed your mind? I’ll understand if you decline to answer.

@AnneTossy: HAHA, I totally get what you meant. I didn’t think it was possible, either, but I’m glad it is.

@MrsCarnival: We’re still going to adopt–we’re just returning to what we originally secretly wanted to do, which is to have one child and adopt one. Having a biological child is important to DH, and while I know he would still be okay with just adopting, I want to do it for him. Getting the good news from the doctor made me realize that all the anxiety and sadness I was feeling was because I DO want to have a child with DH. But we’re definitely not abandoning adoption, either.

@Mrs Grape: I’m really, sincerely, glad that you’ve found something that works for you. Adoption is great, and it’s something that I might consider in the future as well, even though I’ve always fully intended on having biological children. It makes my heart swell with happiness that your Dr gave you good news and that you can start this journey! I know you had thyroid concerns, but I didn’t know about the endo. Either way, YAY!

@MrsCarnival:  I realized that I can manage my thyroid if I’m careful with my meds and keep in touch with the doctor (and, of course, have my blood tested every 4-6 weeks). It’s still scary, but I am learning to handle my fear without abandoning the idea. 🙂 We’re definitely not going to have more than one baby, though we may adopt more than one child, and/or foster later in life as well.
