Could you buy 1 branch now to practice with? I feel like it would depend also on how the branches extend from the main “trunk” for balancing.

Are they clear vases?

If so, you could spray them so that they were colored or opaque.  Then you could put a tall block of flower foam in the bottom to stick them into.  Then they would be taller.  I’m going to put in my favorite photo again, but this is more curly willow than manzita.  The tall vaeses with the manzita might not work.

You definitley will want to try it out first.

I am also using manzanita branches.  My vases are 16″ and the branches are 24″.  The stem of the branches are the shortest part and don’t reach to the bottom of the vases so I am filling mine with river rocks.  That way I can put them at the height I want and it also seems pretty sturdy doing it this way.  (But I may have to re-inforce them with something else, not sure yet) I am hanging candle holders & gluing preserved roses on mine.

Anyway, you could try something like the river rocks i mentioned  for the tall vases but I must warn you it will take alot of river rocks.  I think I’ve bought around 50 bags so far from the dollar store.

As far as the cube vases and using floral foam I haven’t tried this but the branches can be very heavy so not sure if it would work.  And if the vases are clear you would be able to see the floral foam.  Alot of people use containers and fill them with plaster.  Depending on what you want to hang or put on them can rectify how sturdy they will need to be.  Honestly I don’t think the foam would be strong enough. What I did was buy a sample pack from Blooms and Branches and played with it until I got it to work with my vases.  You may want to consider this before buying all your branches.

P.S. It was only like $25 for the sample pack.

Good luck, I will post pictures of mine when I actually get around to finishing them. Smile

Or you could alternate.  Do low manzita branch centerpieces on half, and tall centerpieces on the other half.
