I met DH when I was 33, he was 37- we got engaged on the 1 year anniversary of our 2nd date and were married 3 months later. We just celebrated our 1 year anniversary and found out that we are expecting our first child together.

I think when you are older you know what you want, we were talking about marriage 4 months into dating.

I am in a similar situation like you. Havent been dating my current boyfriend particularly long. What I will say is, we had this conversation from the very beginning. We both agreed that two years won’t go by before hitting that step if we are still together. When you’re older, yes, it’s different. Like you said, there is no rush but you want to at least find out if the person is marriage minded and what long term expectations are since time is of the essence.  I am a little bit more lenient because I already have kids (he has none and doesnt care if he has them either way)

I met my Fiance when I was 32 (he was 37), then engaged at 35. We probably would have been engaged sooner, but I was working through a divorce.

First Date December 2014- Engaged August 2015 – we will get married in May 2016

I was 33 and he was 32. When it’s right, it’s right. He actually asked on about the 3rd date if I wanted to get married (in general, not to him). On 4th date he asked if I wanted kids. That’s super unusual and might scare some off but not me, we both wanted the same things (& he even said same thing as you OP, he didn’t want to waste time w/ someone that did not want those things).

My best guy friend used to early on find out what the girl was looking for saying “I’m 27, I’m not dating just to date, I want to find the person I want to marry. I don’t want to waste my time”.

If only all or more guys were liked that

We are about to get engaged after approximately 2 years. Hopefully next month! Anyway, my BF would’ve proposed a lot sooner, but I’ve been married before and wanted to make sure it was right. I just turned 36, and he’s 32.

    Met in 2012 — I was 45 and he was 59

Engaged in December 2015 – I am now 48 and he is 62

Getting married in July 2016 – I will be 49 and he will be close to turning 63 when we get married.

We were friends for several year beforehand until I decided to ask him out on a date and it was the best thing I ever did — he is so amazing!  He was afraid to ask me out due to the age gap but it really works for us.

I was 42 (3 weeks away from 43) when I met my Fiance.  He proposed on our 2 year anniversary, so I wasn’t sure which option I should click on your poll.  I chose 1-2 years because we talked about marriage, and I knew my ring was being made, before the 2 year mark.  Our engagement will have been 18 months total on our wedding day, so we will have been together 3.5 years when we get married.

I’ll be 35 at the end of this month.

We dated 2.5 years, almost exactly, before we got engaged. Our engagement is less than five month long (getting married June 18!). So we won’t have celebrated three years together before we’re married.
