I always thought the main gem on a wedding ring should be a white diamond but looking back I now wish I considered colored diamonds or other gemstones (like tanzanite).
Why the sudden change of heart you might ask?
I met up with a friend the other day who just got engaged and her ring had a huge rock…but it wasn’t a diamond, it was the tanzanite that made me green with envy!
I so wish someone had taken the time to explain to me when I first got engaged that you don’t have to get a diamond ring. Sure it matches everything but you miss out on so much more deeper meanings when you neglect looking at other stones.
For example, a tanzanite would have been way cheaper, meaning I could have gottena bigger rock. Plus, my purity ring was tanzanite so it would have had a special connection to that and the fact that I waited for my husband.
So I just wanted to let everyone know, that if you are getting engaged don’t just look at the white diamond rings, explore all your options 🙂
Also, I had a questions, does anyone know proper etiquette for getting a new wedding ring? I think for our 5 year anniversary I’m going to ask for a different ring (one with a stone that actually has meaning for me).
