My FI absolutely HATES being the center of attention. He won’t even stand still for more than 30 seconds to let someone take a picture of him! He’s expressed “embarassment” at having to stand on the alter and have everyone watching him, first dance, the whole garter toss thing, even made a comment of “IDK how best man is going to feel about making a speech in front of everyone…”
A part of me wants to tell him to get the F over it lol, but that’s b/c I’m his polar opposite. I have no problem with any aspect of it and am really comfortable in front of a crowd.
So bees, how did your shy guy conduct himself on the day of your wedding?

My husband was worried about the ceremony, but it was a very short ceremony so he was fine. He mingle with the guests before we started the ceremony so I think that helped too. Afterwards, he had an absolute blast and loved it.

I hope this is the case for him. My FI doesn’t drink much either, but I hope he lets loose a little for our wedding, at least! That always helps!

- Wedding: June 2010 - Christmas Tree Farm
H was so, so nervous about having to speak in front of everyone. He was convinced he was going to stutter and forget everything. My step-dad officiated, so we had him read our vows and all H had to say was, “I do,” and one sentence when we exchanged rings (which H actually said wrong but only he and I knew, and it was adorable). We had a very small wedding, so at the reception we skipped everything except for cutting the cake.
