Hello! I’m doing this painting as a gift for my friend’s 1 year old daughter. I’m not the best colorist and tend to ruin my drawing/paintings when I add color. Lol. I just need to color the boarder and I’ll also be putting the little girl’s name on the left side. What color do you think would be nice for the broader? Thanks! 🙂

This is kind of hard XD you’ve got a lot of very strong, dark colours there. I’d probably offset that with a paler colour, light purple maybe? Or, as there’s a tiny bit of green in there a minty green might work. It’s hard without seeing it in person XD (what colour you do the writing in needs to be taken into account as well…)
What type of paint are you working with? If it’s acrylic it probably wouldn’t be too devastating to paint over the first layer if you really don’t like the result 🙂
This is a really awesome painting though!
ETA I would advise against any pink as it’d clash with the red and pink you’ve used for shadows 🙂

@MaidMarian: I was thinking a shade of green too. I was just thinking pink to make it more girly, but I’m not too psych about pink either. I’m using acrylic. Thank you 🙂

I’d do purple, green or blue, in a shade pulled from the painting. I personally wouldn’t do any shade of pink as it may end up either clashing or competing with the figure.

I think it would look great with a turquoise border to offset some of those darks.

Well I was going to say red but that’s not even an option ha

I like light pink, like the color you used for the highlights – that would brighten it up a bit but still keep it girly.

I would say light purple or turquoise!

I voted light pink but like turquoise as well.
You are an amazing artist, this is great! Please show the finished work!
