raeann1984 :  That’s not actually my video, I posted it, but it came from MoissaniteCo. Here is a video of my ring in direct sunlight.

I think what people mean is that the H&A behaves like an extremely well cut diamond, i.e. Ideal cut, Hearts and arrows, etc. The cut of the diamond is what makes it sparkle and gives it fire, so if it’s well cut it will have more fire vs one that is cut poorly.  When I picked up my ring from the jewelry store, the salesperson that gave it back didn’t know it was Moissanite and he said, “that’s an amazing diamond, I’ve see your setting with diamonds that are not as good quality and that diamond you have really makes the setting”.  Hope that helps.

raeann1984 :  So, I think at 8mm, that is what you will get in an H&A. I don’t think I got lucky, as the stones are cut to specific proportions to get the hearts and arrows, so they should all be that sparkly.  I can send you a pic of my certificate if you want to look at it. I know it’s E color, vvs1 or vvs2 clarity.

Also, I think it’s harder to catch the fire in the stones that are a bit smaller, which is what most of the ladies have, mine is pretty big  (8.6mm) so maybe that’s why? Plus, I have a decent camera phone – iPhone 6+, so maybe that helps as well?

And sorry, but you can’t buy my ring, i love it too much! wink

raeann1984 :  can I just say…I’ve been reading all your posts over the past couple of days (like a stalker haha). I had the same dilemma when I was choosing my ring, and eventually decided on the H&A! It arrived on Thursday but I’ve only been able to look at it once in bad nighttime lighting because my boyfriend has hidden it away until the proposal! But I’m over the moon with it 🙂 I think you’ll be happy whichever you decide! You’ve had such great advice from everyone. The bees here are amazing!! Have you made your mind up yet?

nfran :  every time I read what the salesperson said about your ‘amazing diamond’ I squeal with excitement for my H&A! Haha. I’ve seen it in nighttime light so far and think I’m in love!! I hope mine is as sparkly as yours. Fingers crossed they’re all roughly the same specs (especially from MoCo). I’m slightly confused by the numbers on my certificate though. My boyfriend sent me a picture of the certificate for my stone but I’m not sure what it all means! Could I be cheeky and ask for your stats so I can compare? Mine are:

1carat, colourless (F) VVS2

Light grade – very good+

Brilliance – VG 129

Sparkle – VG 61

Intensity – EX 172

raeann1984 :  These are the definitions from the MoCo website:

1Brilliance: the measure of total light return out the top of the stone
2Scintillation: a measurement of the total number of sparkles and flashes of light
3Intensity: a measurement of contrast. Diamonds with low contrast can appear hazy, when viewed in low lighting, as they have a lower amount of contrast from light and dark areas of the stone.

If you go here you can see a comparison chart of the different Moissanite types and how they rank in these areas:

https://www.moissaniteco.com/hearts_and_arrows_vs_forever_one_moissanite.html

And if you go here you can view several certificates to compare F1 and H&A.

https://www.moissaniteco.com/moissanite_cert_examples.html

You’ll notice a couple things…F1 has more brilliance and scintillation then H&A. And all of the H&A stones have similar numbers for brilliance (125-128) and scintillation/sparkle (58-59). missd2016 ‘s stone looks to be even slightly higher @129 and 61!!

I’ll take a look at my cert and post my numbers in a bit.

nfran :  thank you! It’s great being able to compare certificates. Unfortunately the website isn’t letting me upload a picture of my certificate from my phone!

raeann1984 :  I don’t know if they do or not. It’s possible MoCo just did a few for comparison purposes. I’m not sure because I know the cost difference between the F1 and H&A is only $100, which they state is for the cost of the grading report/certificate.
