Does anyone have any comparison pictures of a FB and an unenhanced Moissy? Maybe even specifically the Old European Cut? Maybe in the same lighting or setting to make the comparison easier?
The price difference is over $100 (which is a lot when you’re on a budget), and we’re thinking that if there isn’t that big of a difference in appearance that we may just get the unenhanced. But I don’t want my centerstone to look lackluster compared to my pave stones!
Any and all pictures are greatly appreciated 🙂

From the pics and videos I have seen, I am sure that the unenhanced by no means is “lack luster.” Check out msformaldehyde’s ring and Slick’s ring, both are unenhanced OECs. My ring is a forever brilliant. I think mine might be a bit whiter… but the thing with OECs is that their facets end up acting like tiny little mirrors that reflect the colors of the environment around them. Here’s a picture I took with a lime green shirt on. My FB OEC is throwing back the lime of my shirt, the pink from my cell phone case, the blue sky, etc. I find this to be part of their charm 🙂

If you’re getting a pave band, I would definitely spend the extra $100 for the enhanced stone. Even enhanced moissanites show some color, so an unenhaced next to pave diamonds will probably have a big difference in color. Especially in an OEC, as I’ve heard here on the Bee that they tend to show more color than the RB stones. I’ve never seen one in real life, though, so if anyone else can confirm or deny that…
If you’re really set on the unenhanced stone, you can always get pave diamonds of a lower color grade! those should match the center better. A moissanite certainly won’t look “lackluster” compared to diamonds, as they’re incredibly sparkly and beautiful, it’s mostly just a color difference! Good luck =)

CarolinaPeach13: Yes, this is my E-ring
I already have it, but it came with a CZ center stone (with diamond pave stones). The CZ stayed nice for a while, but now it looks so incredibly foggy, so we want to switch it with a Moissy.

LeonardLady: Neither will look lackluster – LOL! They sparkle like crazy! But OECs will show some color no matter what. Mine is a FB OEC and I definitely get some color. And SPARKLE.

FutureDrAtkins: Aww thanks for the shoutout, my friend 😉
OP I love my unenhanced and like FutureDrAtkins’ stone, it’s has a life of its own! Here are several pictures of mine in different conditions (car, shade, sun, concert). I wouldn’t upgrade to a FB especially if budget doesn’t allow. Good luck!

LeonardLady: missfroggy: Thank you ladies. Yes, it’s an 8.5mm (~2.2ct) unenhanced OEC moissy with diamond sidestones. Pictured with diamond band as well.

LeonardLady: Mine is classic and I’m so glad that’s what I got! I can’t imagine paying for FB and loving it any more than I already do. It’s white 99% of the time.
